| Is wider better? are the 1" wheel spacers commonly used in the 2.2 comp. ? I figured they would help for body clearnce. |

I run 1" spacers on my Scorpion. Don't know about comp legality, they add stability but they make it easier to hang up on the diffs at times. I think that they also improve looks and for sure allow more steering with bigger tires. Just my .02

It's personal taste. Wider pro's.....side hills better Wider cons.....hits gates easier, hangs up easier, steers harder and not a sharp. Skinny pro's....easy to squeeze through gates, don't get hung up as easy,Turns sharper, turns easier Skinny cons....easier to flip over. You choose Last edited by Reflection; 12-09-2007 at 05:29 PM. |

I think using crazy wide spacers (like 1" spacers) is over doing it. The wider out the tire sits from the steering pivot, the more leverage you put on the steering pivot and bearings, which means more breakage and wear. It also screws up the steering geometry, which works the servo harder. If you use a wider axle, like a WK or a twin/mad force axle, the shorter distance between the steering pivot and tire makes steering crisp and easy, and longer lifespan of bearings and such. Haven't you ever wondered why big rigs use wheels with so much backspacing on the front?
