| Hey Guys, I just finished Building my First Crawler. It's an AX10. Took it out today and i am Hooked Heres what I Have now to start with. AX10 Mamba Max Integy 55T 5000 MAH LIPO ACE 1313 Servo (2) Airtronics Rock Crusher Servos M11 Control Spectrum 3ch Reciever What do I want to Have? I want a full on compition rig that I can use in the 2.2 class. I want the best of everything (i dont know what that would be though) so I need your help. I have been looking at the CKRC stage 2 kit, the hustler 2.2 chassis and such. I like the way the Hustler looks but is it going to be the best to have the ability to win ? (if i learn to drive it of coarse? Should I go with a Tuber and get the Hustler, or should i just tune the Stock AX10 ? What about the RC4WD R2 tranny w/ disconect? Do I want the DIG ? Upgraded Shocks, Which ones ? What parts or hop up Parts should I get and from where? Relace Stock Tires? What Foams? Which Bead Locks? Should I keep my LiPo or go with saddle packs over front axles. If saddle packs which Batteries should I get 6cell- 8cell , 1500Mah- 3000 Mah, and where from Bacically, What would you order up if you could put this A10 together any way you wanted to , and create a dominating sweet rig. If you have a sweet idea then please let me know. What all i would need to complete this Project and where i could order everything from? I know I just asked a ton of questions, sorry Once i get enough input or a nice set of plans, I will order everything up and then do a Live Build of this project. Ill title the thread........ Converting stock AX10 into a DOMINATING RIG... or something like that Look forward to some input. Thanks, Patrick |

| From the looks of it you have a great start. I started the same way, just converted my ax10 to a SW3 chassis. I would definately get a different chassis, the sw3 gives more adjustability and just is smoother than the stock chassis. Get some traxxas big bores, losi rock claws, I went with the Kreepy mem foams and are awesome, new chassis(sw3,gc-1, etc..) Dig is real nice if you have real tight courses. I just made one and it works great. That is my set up. Before the SW3 chassis I had the above mods with stock chassis and competed just fine. Once I get a chance to dial in the SW3, should be even better. The only thing other I would suggest is to get either the RCP or RC4wd alum axle c's, steering hubs and straight axles. If you haven't you will break the plastic ones. I went through a whole set of them before i got the aluminum ones. It will all come down to how you drive, we have a few that have stock ax10's and have done minor adjustments and still compete very well. Hope this helps and welcome to the addiction!!! |

| Dig is a must in my opinion. You can get the R2D or build a driveline disconnect. The R2D is nice but $$$. driveline disco is Free Tires, The stock rock lizards suck in comparison to a Rock Claw or Moab I would keep the Lipo but maybe move it to your rear axle plate. or anywhere posible to get it lower. |

I can appreciate this, But if i can have a few much more exsperianced guys give their input. Then I can skip all the experimenting and start fresh with something that is proven to work and just tweak alittle from there. Id rather build and buy once than to go through alot of trial and error. I have found that that the fastest way to success is to surround yourself with successful people. So for all you guys that got something positive to add, Please chip in. Thanks, Patrick

| Yeah, that lipo is too friggin huge! I'd stick with lipo, but maybe one in the 1300mAh range. Last edited by TWISTER; 12-24-2007 at 09:22 AM. |

kamikaze had the most positive thing to add and that was read up, educate yourself. There is no one perfect setup. It all depends on driving style and skill, terrain, and general use. Trial and error is the only way. The fastest way to success is to educate yourself. don't bash people who are trying to help you... not a good way to start out on this forum. p!nK

| Well I haven't been on this forum long, but, take this for what's it worth, in your post above you said you did alot of reading and built your "rig", (it looks mostly stock to me) The want of only experienced people to reply to your post is NOT going to get you what you want, you will have to read and read some more, I'm on my fourth build now (Hustler super) and have done it entirely without asking one question. How, may you ask? By reading the forums here, that's what they are for; information. You did get some advice from experienced people here and you degraded them by saying they weren't qualified to reply to your post. If you want a "dominating setup" you'll only get there by building, tear it down, building, tear it down, break it, build it again.......compete, break it, uprade, modify, experiment, compete some more, and READ...get my drift. I haven't competed, don't know if I ever will, but, I do enjoy and love building and have bought more than once for upgrades, I may not have experience, but, I do have passion for the hobby and follow the advice of whomever has something to give to the plate. Ahh,the smell of burnt wires. I wish you well and hope you have great success.... when that happens........... people will listen to you and follow what has worked for you. Yes, go with Lipo, you're probably getting alot of rollover with that thing on top. The X-Trail is a good conversion, I tried the rockbull chassis and it was still top heavy, this setup (X-Trail) with full droop has worked well for me The vendors sites are listed on here: RC4WD The Crawler Store JPCustomrcs RCP Holmes Hobbies CKRCCrawlers CheapBatteryPacks, just to name a few. Check out their sites and you will see what is available for upgrades. Good Luck! |

| Read the ----'d answers below: ------------------------ Hey Guys, I just finished Building my First Crawler. It's an AX10. Took it out today and i am Hooked Heres what I Have now to start with. (if i learn to drive it of coarse? ----The Stage 2 kit would be a nice upgrade. A hustler 2.2 would work well too, but honestly I havent been super impressed watching the 2.2 versions compete. Should I go with a Tuber and get the Hustler, or should i just tune the Stock AX10 ? ----Stick with the stock Ax10, but do the following: ---- Put 3/4" fuel tubing inside the shocks as limiters. Run 1000 weight diff oil all the way around, and softer springs in the front. Get the upgraded servo plate, and use a little battery pack next to it up front. Put lead wrap weight or airsoft BB's in the front tires, and depending on what tire you run, you might want some cut foams in the front and wider cut foams in the rear. Bent links are nice. There are many other comp tweaks for scorpions- go to the ax10 section and read up. What about the RC4WD R2 tranny w/ disconect? Do I want the DIG ? ----Yes, if you are serious about competition, you'll want dig. Upgraded Shocks, Which ones ? ----You could either limit the ax10 shocks, or eliminate them and go with some Traxxas XXL big bores. That'll make your ride height awesome. What parts or hop up Parts should I get and from where? ----Aluminum knuckles, C's, lockouts, straightaxles, HBZ carbon fiber set, etc.... All from many of the vendors in the vendors section, or your LHS if they are cool at all. ;) Relace Stock Tires? ----Yes What Foams? ----Cut the foams that come with whichever tires you buy. Which Bead Locks? ----Stock Axials are fine, unless you have chash, then I'd get the new MSD aluminum beadlocks.</b> Should I keep my LiPo or go with saddle packs over front axles. If saddle packs which Batteries should I get 6cell- 8cell , 1500Mah- 3000 Mah, and where from ----You'll want some kind of battery on the front axle. Go with a little 3 cell Lipo.</b> Bacically, What would you order up if you could put this A10 together any way you wanted to , and create a dominating sweet rig. If you have a sweet idea then please let me know. What all i would need to complete this Project and where i could order everything from? ----Everything can be ordered from the vendors. I know I just asked a ton of questions, sorry Once i get enough input or a nice set of plans, I will order everything up and then do a Live Build of this project. Ill title the thread........ Converting stout stock AX10 into a DOMINATING RIG... or something like that ----The key to total domination is less about truck, and more about driving ability. Practice... |

| mrpink, Kamikaze, Les Crawl Sorry the words came out wrong, I wasnt saying that the replys were from someone un exsperianced, I was just asking for more input. In no way was I trying to bash someone. Sorry for it sounding that way. After reading some of your posts, I now know your right. The only way i am going to really have a dominating rig is through trial and error and alot more exsperiance. Sorry if I came across wrong, I was just real excited and wanted a kick but rig like now. I was hoping to hear about an awsome setup that was going to go together quick. I now know that I will have to figure it out through alot of testing. I have allready gotten some good advise from all of you and I will be starting the rebuild soon. Thanks for all your time, and responces. If you got anymore ideas plese let me know, I will put the info to good use . Thanks, Patrick |
