Three questions- #1- Does anybody think that the front off a modified XTM excellarator would work? #2- Muddytrux, would you consider the release of the specs on the rear half of the chasis? #3- What size tires are those? |

#1 - Check the track width of what you want to use and then figure in the width and offset of the wheels you want to use. I used a XXX-T chassis with Axial beadlocks. Initially it was way too wide. After a ton of mods, its better but nowhere near where it should be. #2 - Rear is pretty easy...WK axle tied to a 4-link that fits the Slash wheelbase. #3 - Tires are 4" high. Anything smaller looks kinda goofy and bigger won't fit well.

After watching the video the gears in my head are turning.. Thinking about using the stock slash front end, and part of the existing frame.. just have to figure out how to fab up the rear shock towers and link positions... Damn you for making me think like this... How does the rear look with standard slash tires.. are they to tight in? any possiblity of a pic with the body on and slash rears?

i should be able to answer most of these questions. 1. i know they are using t4 fronts on both trucks due to the steering set up. the way the steering is designed it is able to handle the massive amount of suspension travel these trucks have 2. the t4 chassis is just cut behind the battery tray with an axial tranny mounted to it. the only thing behind that point is the rear shock mount/ spare tire carrier 3. the black truck is on geolanders/panther paddles. the blue and white truck is on proline dirt works/panther paddles

If you search the Traxxas site you can find the Slash track width. I had it written down somewhere...it'll work if its wider, you just won't be able to get the front tires to tuck @ full compression. I used the XXX-T as my base, and its got tons of travel. Some steering/suspension link placement modification was needed, but its not too hard to do. Without the mods the toe and camber angles would vary wildly going from full extension/compression. Last edited by Duuuuuuuude; 02-06-2009 at 06:51 PM.
