Default Harley's Low Rider

Well Venom-Crawler inspired me last night with his Low-Lux project, so I got to building.

I had all this stuff laying around the house so I figured I might as well throw it together to get me going.

Here is the build list so far:
  • X-Trail
  • Narrowed TLT Axles for extreme tuck-age
  • Axial Trans with aluminum case
  • Prototype VF Dig (spun around so I can run 2wd or lock up the front for burnouts )
  • Traxxas VXL system I have (as soon as Brandon sends it back )
  • 2s Lipo
  • Tour Car wheels with rubber tires
  • 4PK controling it all, and I might have to use the 4th channel to do some servo actuated suspension

Here is the start

So now I have to decide on a body, I may go with the F-350 but a Yota may still happen as well.....Thoughts?

Default cool

what are you doing about suspension??
maybe 4 servos for independent suspension in all for corners kinda like hydros, i've had this idea for a while now but since im not doing it anytime soon i'll share with you cuase your on a good start.
long aluminum servo arms with touring car shocks at the end conected to the axle, and then you just plai with springs and oil, 6 channel radio also.

I have thought about the hydro thing before too, I think I may just do a raise and lower type deal though. I want to run the dig so I can do burnouts and that is going to take up a channel. I guess I could hit up Futaba for another radio but I don't need to press my luck

Looks great Harley!
I am also thinking of running a R2D II backwards to get 2WD/4WD and lock the axle for burnouts, but on my upcoming Dakar LR3. And the servo suspension would be cool also. I might think about that, seeing as the real LR3's can raise or lower the suspension.

Can't wait to see more.

I need to make links still but I am going to wait until I choose the body and it gets here. Right now it is sitting at 11 3/4 which is obviously way too long. I might be able to use the rear shock hoops as a C-notch and put some draggin block out the back

The outside to outside dimension is 7" with wide hexes. I can go narrower by about 1/4".

If you cut out the frame below where the shock hoop is, you can tuck the axle into the frame more, like c-notching the real thing.

a 4x4 lowered truck? jk looking good man glad that i inspired you. you could always use a lexan body like the 72 chevy body if you cant tuck those under that ford body.

I like the Idea of a line lock maybe look into a 4wd touring car front end for a indy front?

a bagged clod bodied c-10 would be sweet,

for the auto lowering, I was thinking about a cantilever setup on all 4, front and rear tied together and either a separate servo on either side or a find a way to link them in the center so you only need the 1..... now I'm thinking of all the things I would try, crap.....

I am definitely planning on doing a cantilever setup but I am thinking of maybe only doing a rear setup, tail dragger.

I am not sure about swapping out the front yet, definitely a thought.

IF you want the suspension to drop you can still mount some shocks vertically, just use an arm on the shock towers attached to a servo to change the "height" of the shock mount without losing a spring suspension.

Thats actually a really good idea, as long as you can get a solid mount. Why not use the new Tamiya Tundra body for this build?

That is arm is what we were referring to as a cantilever. So, yup that is the plan

It is not available yet, as far as I know. This isn't a super crazy build. Just something that will be easy to do and fun to drive. I don't feel like waiting.

Ok - I thought that's what you were talking about, but my brain is too tired to put it all together.

I like Rudukai13 idea... Tundra.

Are you giung to leave the the trans locked, or are you going to swap a ball diff so it's more of an AWD instead of a locked 4wd?

Nope, locked with locked diffs and big power. I want it to drive like a drifter, I have always wanted a drifter
