Default Blade CX

Ok guys. I did some trading with one of the guys on here and got a Blade CX. What would be some good upgrades to get for it? I know its the "starter" heli but from what I have read, there good to start on. I will definitely be getting a pro or moving up to another heli if I can get the hang of this one.

Also, I use to fly planes a few years back but have never flown a heli. I have a few times on the sim and did ok with them. Any tips to help me get started? Do they always try to pull with the blades when you first start up or is there something I can do to stop this? I know I can do most of it with the stick but wasnt sure if there was something else I can do.

I dont have the heli yet but should be here within the next day or so.

i had a cx and loved it super easy to fly and very controllable. i was able to put up the throtle and let it hover without touching the sticks. just fly it and you will find out you will need. i never upgraded anything on it. but make sure you stock up on blades the break very easy. if you so eventually go to a pro get a sim a nd practice a ton. because the two are very different. i got one and i crashed so many times i was going broke so i sold it and got into rock crawling. so just be willing to crash before you even get off the ground with the pro.

I would switch to the common sense battry for it a go with it. For some reason the common sense battery gives quite a bit more power even though it is suppose to be the same.

i suggest getting the cf tail boom for it the slimmer profile make it a little easier to fly out doors and make it less vulnerable to gusts of wind. getting the xtreme sport canopy also helps.

training gear is a must if your just learning to fly helis

and stock up on blades, they're really inexpensive 2 full sets for under 8 dollars

the main thing w/ the cx and beginers is setting it up properly
you could probabbly go to your lhs and have them set it up for you for free or a nominal charge. keep an eye on what they're doing and ask lots of questions.

The first actuall part that I would upgrade would be the plastic rotor to the alluminum eflite part.Working at a hobby shop and selling a bunch of these that was the second part to fail next to the blades other than that its an excellent heli and you will have tons of fun with it

Not to try and pick a fight but you will have very little chance to fly it out side. It must be a completely still day outside to fly. It is just not powerful enough to handle any wind to speak of. As far as a diffrent tail boom goes I noice very little change in how it flys with the smaller boom vs. the stock style, the only reason I changed mine is the stock one cracked. I personally had never flown a heli when I got my CX2 and I litterally opened mine and was flying decently. With in a couple of days of playing I could land on TV trays very consistantly. The CX is a pretty easy heli to fly.. I love mine.

hmmm... i fly mine outside once in a while. im not saying im flying it in gale force winds but it can handle a slight breeze
i moved the push rods a little further down the servo arm for a little extra throw in the servos to help fly it outside.

I have mine moved up as well but if there is much of anything at ground level I can hang it up. Maybe I need to move them alittle more.

Ok, got the heli, installed some new blades, one of the top shafts and a few little things. I have it flying ok but I am getting a bad glitch. The wierd part is that its only doing it on one servo. I tried using another servo I had gotten in the spare parts but its doing the same thing. So does it sound like the Gyro/receiver/speedcontrol part or the radio maybe?

take it to your lhs they should be able to diagnose the problem. if its a manufacturer defect they'll more than likely be able to replace the part w/ 0 charge

I fly mine outside all the time. Is it a hand full sometimes, yea. But you can fly them outside up to I would say 3-5mph winds. If you are just starting off I would say stay inside for sure. But over time you will get out side and it will help you for when you do decide to go up in size.

Kenny, I actually brought it with me to ATL to get you or Jason to look at it. When I saw how tired you two were I didnt even think about it.

Yeah, I have flown it outside a few times. Like I said before, I have flown planes so I am not new to flying. I know helis are a different thing but I still have fairly quick hands.

Even with it glitching on me a little, I have been flying it low (within 5 to 10 feet) just in case it goes crazy. The glitch only seems to happen when I give input to go hard forward or back.

I noticed something else with it at work today. I had the battery charged and everything trimmed out about an hour ago. It was hovering almost perfect. I threw the battery back on charge because I got a call. When I got back, it was charged. I took it up and the tail is spinning around on it hard now. I know the trims didnt get touched. The tail is spinning to the right and I have it trimmed all the way to the left and I am still having to hold 3/4 stick to the left to keep it straight. Is it normal for these things to loose settings like this? :-(

Not that I've seen. Try to rebind it and see what happens. If you have a DX6i switch over to that But the settings should not change between battery packs. If you take the front off you can adjust the settings on the inside as well. If you have the DVD it will give you a step by step on how to do that as well. Next time just put it in front of me, I LOVE helis!!!

This is an older one with the crystals. After that happened, I charged it again to fly and it was flying straight. I dont know if it is the radio or the 4 in 1.

You were too tired....you probably would have crashed it. J/k
