I think 3s is 11.1V right? WEll i have used the sidewinder with the 5700 on 8 cells which came out to a little over 10V fully charged. hope that helps.

As per Castle's site, the sidewinder should only be used with 2s lipo or 8 cells when running a 5700 kv motor. With the 4600 kv motor it can handle 3s lipo. I would ask JohnRobHolmes though, he will know if you can get away with it or not.

In what truck? With what gearing? You'll likely kill the magnets on that motor...

Will be used in my custom car, the formula offroad. Why would it kill the magnets since the motor is made for 2-3s lipo. The esc however is rated for 2s with the 5700 motor.

Will be using 20T pinion with the r2hd transmission.

I was running a 5700, Sidewinder, 2S combo, stock Slash gearing and I kept overheating the motor. It would get well past 200*....which demagnetized the motor (called the Curie Temperature).

BTW, the ESC never skipped a beat.

3s will smoke the ESC under normal gearing. If you could manage to keep it under 40mph at WOT, you may be able to run it (and void your warranty). Everybody that I know of that tried it fried the ESC.
