Sorry the scan kinda sucks, but I thought I would post this up any ways. I have been running 50k diff fluid in my Slash for a couple months now and it made the biggest noticeable difference in handling. After a couple months, my fluid just started to leak out. Not a lot, but leaking non the less. I did this mod a couple days ago. Super easy and so far no leaks.

I think you can get the main idea. I got the rest of the article scanned in if interested. Let me know and I'll git er up

I did this diff mod two days ago. I used 30k fluid. Have to see how long it stays sealed. Pretty simple to do as well. I didn have a counter sunk bit so I just took two normal drill bits and made it work. and used teflon washers.

I will be running my slash at the track on Friday

Helps in a lot of areas including straight line.

I just threw some 70k diff fluid in mine. I haven't got it on the track yet, but it feels like a lot better just ripping around the yard.

Had the Slash out. The diff mod is still holding. Added 3oz of weight to the rear end and that seems to also help keep the rear plated a little better. I love my Orion, I just wish the Titan had a little more nut. I put it in for some wet running.

I will add that if you dont have the Newest version of the RPM gear cover, you are missing out. Really does a great job of keeping all the shiz out of the gear box unlike the stocker.

I ran my slash yesterday at the track. I dont have much track time to compare the sealed diff mod but the truck handles excellent. 20x's better than the stock open diff. 30k diff fluid.

I am running switch tires and 40wt rear, 55wt front. 8,000mAh battery. Oh, and I put a Novak Havoc 8.5 in it too after the stock motor crapped. The track was nice and sticky too.

I did notice the front end likes to come down on coasting or rolling slow jumps. I can control it on bigger jumps with the throttle. I added 2oz to the rear but haven't ran it yet.

Just my .02.

Good to hear Shane. I think the biggest downfall with the Slash is that Traxxas didn't throw in a sealed diff. I recall leaky diff. issues on the Revo when it first hit the streets as well and all the leaky mods for them posted all over the place. Traxxas....what were they thinkin not puttin in a sealed diff in such a kick ass lil truck that is all the rage lol!
Sealing the diff and throwin in some heavier diff fluid has been one of the best things you can do to the handling issues of the Slash. Adding weight to the rear did seem to help, but it takes some getting used to thats for sure. Rite on man

I couldn't find any front shock mods on those sheets. I've been reading around and it looks like its supposed to be 60wt oil and move the lower shock mount to the outer position. I also added 5mm of spacers under the front so the chassis wouldn't bottom out on the ground when it compresses.

I've got all the mods done and I can say it made a huge difference. It rides a little higher now but feels so much more controlled. Accelleration with the diff is night and day better and more controlled.

Thanks Zach, going to try that. right now I am getting so much front dive in a turn that I traction roll once the tires warm up. Does the article mention anything about the pistons inside? Keep the single hole or go to a 2 or 3 hole?

Yes, moving shocks to outer hole makes a big difference. I also went with 55 wt shock oil in front and 40 round back. After adding weight to the rear end, I may add a larger spacer on the shocks.

what would be the best type of sealant for this mod. I sued rtv silicone for sealing coolant gaskets but it didnt seem to hold up and started leaking right away. Also whats a good starting point for diff lube weight? I put in 100k but it seems a little light just spinning the wheels by hand. Its been raining here so I havent gotten a chance to test it really.
