The existing shift knob looks a bit alike so I guess a little bit of heating and shaping I can make it look close:-P not the scales doh...maybe

STANG KILLA SS 03-09-2009 08:13 AM

thats bad ass, even for a ford, where did you get the body? scale?

Tupers 03-09-2009 08:46 AM

Very cool project, is it going to be R/C or is it just a shelf model? I would love to model the big rig with the cannons from a Tamiya 1/14 truck some day.

CRAZYACE63 03-09-2009 03:50 PM

That's cool looking but I was hopign for the original Frankenstein car. Now that would be bad ass.

Its a cheap china made RC its 1/10 scale powered by 280 motor and not proportional servo. I bought it at a kids toy store inside a mall. Its perfectly on scale with Tamiya 1/10 bodies. I'm actually planing to use my TAO2 chassis. Another option is to use TAO2 front and rear mech on to the Mustang Chassis. Here's a picture of it on TAO2 chassis and the Mustang chassis on Tamiya body.

Its definitely RC. I'll even use drift tires to depict drifts done on the movie. I'm actually planing to spring load the tomb stone that launch on remote using an extra channel8). I was really aiming on Machine Gun Joe's Dodge Ram 1500 truck using HPI's lexan body but when I saw this cheap hard body Mustang RC the idea just light on.:)

Boby clips are non functional just a replica. The evo7 body is by Tamiya and yes roof scoop included.

A little progress...

Im hoping to find the same wheel if there is, I'll probably scout RC shops around my place if not I'll just settle to anything that looks closest to the original. For the paint I'll try to give the same worn dusty look with some weathering technique and maybe add some bullet dents/holes. Honestly I'm not good at it and its a new thing for me to explore. Here's what I did with my battle damaged RC tank

I will try to use this simple dry brushing weathering technique from Tamiya

Reworked the windshield. I realized some or one of the movie cars got 4 louvers  on it so I modified.... looks more scale now:)

Didn't expect its gonna be tricky to make the edges follow the mustang upper fender contour:shock:

DarkSoul 03-15-2009 08:33 PM

I can't wait to see what you come up with for the "tombstone" for the back of that thing.

Great build so far though, looking forward to seeing this finished.

elaz 03-24-2009 10:21 PM

update.
This is the only reference I have of the rear without the tomb stone. I just have to do my best guess on how each parts fit.
