| WTF $150.00 for supply's R U fawking crazy for a sled ___ That's bullshit' man - I'd go down in the my basement here and within an hour have just about everything I'd need to build a descent -> first try at making my own sled all sitting on this here bench - and what I'd not have and at the some time as I'd be fiddle fawking around at trying to at least get something mock up to eyeball what it maybe look like - I'd just head on over to home-depot a look around in there to find what I needed or come across - but 150.00 shit man - give me that 150.00 bro' - and I'll build you a sled and keep the change' - I had one year's ago that I used an old tonka truck to make it out of. I usd the dump bed from that old truck as the wt' bucket and then made the whole frame from angled alumuim' and most the rest was just some old emaxx' rim's & tire's and made my own axle's and had a pulley that would up as it roll forward to pull the wt' bucket up the frame to the front of it - and all i had to buy extra' then that was a pulley and some washer's and lock nut's from the hardware store --> I'm thinking I had 50.00 the mostinto it I figure - Keep checking out all those other link's that are within alot of the R/c pulling club's website's and forum's - for I've seen afew sled's - but did't see an ad for any of them as of yet' - but I'm getting warm,...ya' know's - and I get some good pic's of the sled's their using to go on as well. Good luck to you brotha' - and I hope you get one bilt' soon as well ~ol'Scoot'er~

Don't forget to check out the National Radio Control Truck Pulling Assoc. web page: http://www.nrctpa.org/ Nationally orginized R/C pulling is in its 22nd year. Lots of pics along with class rules and links to pulling parts and builders are on the site. Next big event coming up end of April in Ohio. Live web feed of pulling and monster truck racing will be running on Ustream (link will be posted on NR/CTPA web site) One of my pullers: (based on HPI Wheely King runs in 4wd driveshaft class) |

The Dragon Wagon sled has a plastic skid plate and weight box. It uses a string to pull the box up. It works ok for smaller pullers but only will only handle about 20# max in the box. I've seen a couple modified with aluminum skid and box that makes them work a little better. Good for playing around but not for serious competition. The Max Trax Eliminator was an extruded aluminum chassis, chain drive production sled sold by Hobbico in the 90s. Those are the ones to look for, but when you find one they generally go for over $300. If you can get the raw materials (aluminum, steel, gears, chain, wheels, ect) cheap and have access to good metal working tools, building a sled is not that hard. You just need to calculate the gearing to the wheel size to get the transfer distance set to 30 feet. (for 10th scale) Here's a couple vids of the 21st World Championships that show the weekends activities with some humor thrown in. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=.../1/5NL5HM5cbIQ http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=.../0/UjkXbu6Pnss Last edited by ThunderVP; 04-03-2010 at 04:42 PM. |
