Default Bass Pro Shops 1/18 Scale Late Model

Some guys that live nearby have built a nice dirt track in their back yard so we have started a spec class for the Losi Mini Late Model. Rules are whatever came in the box with the exception of foam tires on the rear.

Here is what mine looked like at the start of the night.

And after the racing.

And last but not least video of the racing action.

My set up is 35 wt oil in the front shocks and 30 wt in the rear. Front shocks are droop limited with 3/16 of fuel tubing. The right front spring is silver as well as the left rear. The other two use the black springs. I run the electronics on the left and the battery in the middle. Both right side tires have 1 degree of negative camber and the left side tires have 1 degree of positive. Siping and grooving the rear tires helps with grip. Everything else is stock.

I adjust for the track conditions using preload clips and the following guide.
How to fix handling issues
Going into turn-

LOOSE
(1) Right front spring is too soft use more preload clips or heavier shock oil
(2) Left front spring is too hard us less preload clips or thinner shock oil
(4) Lower chassis - keeping it level with the rear.

Tight
(1) Right front spring needs to be softer use thinner shock oil or less preload clips
(2) Right rear spring needs to be stiffer use thicker shock oil or more preload clips

Coming out of the turn-

LOOSE
(1) Add preload clip or thicker shock oil to the right front and left rear
(2) Thinner shock oil or less preload clips in right rear
(3) Decrease rear springs evenly
(4) Use a soft tire in the rear

TIGHT
(1) Less preload clips or thinner shock oil in the right front and left rear evenly (2) Add weight to the front left tire
(3) Add preload clips or heavier shock oil to the right rear
(4) Increase rear springs eavenly

Since I've gotten used to racing and got the set up like I want it I ordered a new body and painted it.

I was so into dirt oval when I was in my late teens. This bring back so many good memories. I actually rebuilding the 3 1/8th cars I used to race. A Kyosho Ultima, A RC10 w/LTO chassis, and a Losi sprint car conversion. Now I need a track to run them on.... The nearest is an hour away.
