I did not even know they were making this stuff. That is sweet. May have to start looking at short course stuff again.

My Trophy Slash has a WK rear axle with Axial overdrive gears in it, and an Axial transmission. I run 30/54 32 pitch gears (45/84) and a Castle 4600 on 3S LiPo.

I would think you would need more gear reduction than just the rear end.

I'm saying you need a transmission with some gear reduction, not the 1:1 R2 transmission. My Axial overdrive gears are 36/14.
This gives me an overall gear reduction of 12:1 and my truck goes 50 mph.
You will only have 26/13 = 2:1 gear reduction so you need a transmission.

thats what i mean sorry, i have the 36/14 gears in the axle. . . that with the R2 1:1 tranny wont be good enough. . . i can always put a different 32pitch pinion inside of the tranny...

I don't know what the internal gear ratio of the 1:1 R2 is but here is my best guess on finding a pinion.

On a stock Clodbuster gearbox we used to find the gear reduction like this:
30 x (13/9) = 43.3
Where 30 was the stock gear reduction (30:1), 13 is the stock pinion gear, and 9 is the new pinion gear. The new reduction with the 9 tooth pinion is 43.3:1.

Using the same principal on the 1:1 R2 and knowing that it comes with a 28 tooth pinion:
1 x (28/9) = 3.1
If you use a 9 tooth pinion the reduction should be 3:1.

Your rear axle has a 36/13 = 2.8:1 gear reduction. (I used the wrong numbers in my previous post)

2.8 x 3.1 = 8.6
I don't think an 8.6:1 gear reduction is enough.

You said the axle can use Axial gears. If that is true and you got the Axial underdrive gear set. 43/13 gears.

43/13 = 3.3
Then used a 9 tooth pinion in the R2:
3.3 x 3.1 = 10.3
Your gear reduction is still only 10.3:1. This will put alot of load on the motor and the 9 tooth pinion will not be very efficient at high speed, but it might work.

Your best bet is to put in an Axial or Traxxas Stampede tranny imo.

well in my axle i have the 14/36, then with the R2 1:1 tranny it should be pretty fast ill have to mess around with the pinion, i got pleanty of those from the slash tranny...my original tranny was the slash ( locked ) an turned sidways, but it just was to low of gearing even with a 28t pinion to a 52 spur. . . it was pretty much the speed of a stock ax10...
