T-Bucket project, back from the dead This thing has been lurking on my workbench, mocking me for more than 3 years. So I decided to do something with it. Again. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8332.jpg Step one, a new styrene body and bed. I was thinking nasty rat rod/junkyard build. The 3-speed is kinda wide, so I made a V8 engine shell... http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8334.jpg Valve covers right on top like an old Buick Nailhead :D http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8335.jpg This could be from a '50's International truck, or a tractor. Same thing, really. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8336.jpg Remember those horrible aftermarket turbo kits from the 1980's? Bet the junkyards are full of them if they haven't been crushed by now. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8337.jpg I built this just to see if I could. Don't know if I'll use it or not. |
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8341.jpg Intake manifold, second try at a distributor, turbo hose (with clamps!) http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8340.jpg Sophisticated compressor plumbing  |
finally! incredible! looks like the heads got allitle hot, check the water jackets. |
oh no not another microgoat build i am defently subcribing to this one :shock::shock::shock: |
The T/A scoop is spot on.Looks really nice |
This must have been covered with dust. I would have seen this when I was in the man cave. Can't wait to see where it ends up... |
thats bad ass, Would you make a video next time you do styrene work like that ? Great build so far "thumbsup" |
Wow,I forgot all about this one. Can't wait to see it finished.......................in 20 years.:lmao: |
It's getting finished this time. I got my mojo workin! More progress: http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8355.jpg Timing cover, water pump, generator, starter. The belt is 1/16 half-round styrene. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8356.jpg Radiator hose and clamps. Hose clamps are actually pretty easy, wrap a strip of .001 styrene around the hose, cut a slot (razor saw works well) in a 1/16 rod and glue together. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8354.jpg Rear tires and wheels. You never know where you'll get some inspiration; this time I was buying cat food. Had to walk by the dog toys and spotted these chewy tires: http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8353.jpg The center seam caught my eye. Hells bells, I says to me, that's a DOT slick. A lot of Dremel work later, and they are. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8357.jpg Overall shot with the turbo on http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8359.jpg I like the yee-haw vibe with the shaker way up there. |
Wow, you never cease to amaze me with your building skills.Incredible "thumbsup" Can you post a shot of the steering set up at the axle ? |
It's a little bootleg  http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8361.jpg Just an aluminum strip sandwiched under the bearing with some JB Weld holding it in place. It's strong enough for this, but I don't trust it. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8360.jpg Looks junkyardy to me  |
 Simply the best styrene work I've ever seen. Can't wait to see this finished"thumbsup" Kieren |
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8384.jpg Exhaust system with clamps, cheesy flex pipe, hangers and muffler http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8366.jpg Plug wires http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8362.jpg I've never seen Halibrands in the junkyard, but you could get lucky if it's a really good junkyard. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8385.jpg Painted the shaker. Looks like a Tenth Anniversary T/A died so this heapster could live. There's no justice in the junkyard. |
sexy! nice work Stu! |
very interesting turbo setup there  looks efficient and safe :ror: |
WOW!! thats all i can say......... |
Efficient and safe is for the OEM's :ror: Hit the yee-haw pedal and hold it til the valves float or the Dynaflo explodes. It occurs to me that any junkyard with Halibrands is likely to have a big pile of Moroso hi-hat air cleaners. You might even find one with good chrome... http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8388.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8389.jpg ... and a halfway clean element. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8386.jpg Weathered the exhaust. |
That's looking amazing your on track for yet another great build. |
Thanks Norm! http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8391.jpg After the little bitty letters on the air cleaner, I thought the tailgate script would be a breeze. It wasn't. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8392.jpg Buckets aren't known for copious legroom, even more so when half the interior has to hide electronics. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8393.jpg Some attention to the front tires now. I dremeled out some circumferential grooves to make these BFG's more streetable. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8390.jpg I could have painted these, but then they wouldn't be RAISED white letters. And no, I'm not compensating for anything. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8394.jpg A shiny aluminum frame was inconsistent with the character of the rod, so I painted it. |
Body and paint today! http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8397.jpg Some people see and old car in a field and think about fixing it up. Some people take potshots at it with a .45 Sometimes it's the same car. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8398.jpg Grille painted and weathered http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8400.jpg Paint's coming off the radiator. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8395.jpg Join my fan club! http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/IMG_8401.jpg Overall progress. |
