about a drifting Looking at some drifters out there whats a good start for a drifter.HPI or that tamiya.I now a little but like to get info before buying. Thanks |
i was going to get an hpi but the the local hobby store said that they were all discontinued and tamiyas are a pain to get parts for. |
Get a Traxxas Ken Block or Boss 302.Any of the rallys by traxxas can be used as a drifter. |
The Traxxas are great! I have a merv, that can be transformed into any of the 1/16th products. The great thing about the Traxxas rally is its ready to go and having waterproof electrics is hella fun and also lipo ready is another plus. If your wanting to build a kit the TT01's are a good start as its easy to put together and cheap enough that if you find that your not crazy about drifting it didn't break the bank. IMO it is the licensed scale body's that make the appearance of a drift car worth getting into the Tamiya product, and also the aftermarket support. I am lucky to have a LHS that caters to the on road crowd so sourcing parts is easy for me. Watch some youtube and figure whats more important to you, all-around performance or a killer looking car that drifts. How much are you going to be willing to spend, with the right budget you can have the best of both. Either car is going to be fun to slide around, but if it is just going to be a drift car I say try the TT01, I have two of them. |
I was told be a hobby shop that this HPI Sprint 2 Sport Drift has been around for a long time.and part are not hard to get.I think performance would be first then body.200.00 to start is cool place to start. |

IMO traxxas is crap for a drift chassis.. what kind of drifting are you doing? Carpet or outdoor? I would suggest a Tamiya TT-01 since their chassis is very good, however, HPI Sprint 2 drift with a front motor conversion is very good too. you cant go wrong with either. I run a Xray 007 T2 for drifting. its a hardcore touring kit, that i used to run, but now is used for drifting. its great for drifting. |
I use my Traxxas outside and with drift tires it drifts pretty good.My friends have HPI sprint 2 and they break alot. But everyone has different opinions. |
look around for an old TC3 TC4 Traxxas 4-TEC, HPI RS4 anything can be good for a drifter, tires and gearing are what its all about just like in any class of RC check your local craigslist or ebay for a cheap roller |

I said the traxxas 4 tec not the Mini rally revo boss thing. the 4tec is the 1/10 scale on road |

the 4-tec is an amazing drift chassis though. but costly, unless you wanna drift nitro  |

but i cant say about that novak setup. but at the moment, i run a 3900kv on 2s. IMO its over powered when i haven't drifted in awhile, but then it is completely underpowered once i get about 10mins of running. |
