Default 1:6 scale 1941 Willy Coup Drag car ** 10/6 driver complete**

Some may remember this a while back. The original plan was to keep it stock running wise and just weather it up.

Well Scale has a Hotrod build Comp going on and I could not resist.

Car as I got it.

The Work begins
I am going for the HotRod shop car look, rusted, primer panels and such.

Engine installed. Hood will be closed but removable or hinged not sure which yet.

For the rear I am using a Wheely King rear axle.

XXXT front end, width also looks good. I will limit the suspension, no shocks at all.

Traxxas Stampede tranny, locked, 12 turn Titan Motor, and Traxxas ESC.

Panther Mega Maxx Slick Monster Truck Tire for the rear and Ofna 1/8 Street Tire Treaded w/o Belt for the front.

Rear tires...holy massive, think this is going to be pretty cool.

Finished the trunk.
Before

After-Expanded the wheel-wells, added NOS, carpeted with flocking. Added the hidden battery compartment.

NOS Detail

Chassis is coming along. Tranny/motor, electronics fit up. Rear axle and links mounted.

Here is the rest of the rear axle support (still in fab state) with Mini buggy shocks.

Now the big surprise...I had Talon paint these up for me.....perfect fir for the "shop car" look I am after.

It's a roller !!

Tranny mount and cover...THANKS Talon for the awesome idea.

Rear suspension. I used 1/4" key stock bent into a "Z" with Losi Mini shocks. I limited the travel with fuel line on the shock shafts.

Well in anticipation for the ground shakin wheely I made this.

Just need to touch up joints and paint.

I made it smaller then true scale, it was too big looking otherwise. I used tail wheels from a plane for the wheels, they do turn too.

Stay tuned, getting very close to first run. More pics later with an update.

Very nice, Darin! I still think it'd be cooler as a gasser than Pro Street, but I'm not the one building it!

Thanks everyone for the comments. Been a fun build for sure.

Holy Sally Struthers, Batman! Thats a big bitch! Nice work.

Not a big fan of those front wheels though. It'd look pretty good with some Moon discs all the way around....

I agree Duuuuuuuude but I could not find anything with the correct offset. It's big, ya think I could find more that would tuck in but nooooo luck.

These do allow for the nice disc brakes to show though.

Get some aluminum, cut out some circles, give them the brushed look and stick 'em on.

Ah, got ya now, my bad. Actually Rocked out had a great idea to use those little stick on mirrors you use for blind spots, I was going to go with MOON caps. I need to pick some up and give them the a look see.

Looks good, does it have any rear axle side to side movement? Looks like there is no triangulation on the rear links.

That is SICK Darrin. SICK! Not sure how big the wheels are but us surveyors use these things called shiners for control points. They are shinned metal rings that look like hub caps and they have a few rings so it can be trimmed to a size.

Most states have several Surveyor supply shops and I would guess they would jts give you a few for free.

Hmmm, not sure it's for sale yet but shipping will be huge.

None, the way I have the shocks mounted take care of that. They are more for looks and ride height adjust then actually dampening the ride.

Thanks for the info Norm.
I'll have to look into that. Fronts are 2.8 Jato wheels and the rear are 3.3 Tmaxx. I need to do something, I am not happy with them this way either.
