Default hpi cup racer questions

just got a new hpi cup racer yesterday from the lhs for $200. (this is my first hpi)

turns out the thing was already built but they didnt follow thru with everything. they used parta from both kind of shock layouts so now i have to fix it, no big deal but annoying! the front shocks are stand up right now, im going to re do it so they are lay down. it has a 510 body but i need a new one because theres no rear bumper!

the tires are rubber but they have no tread. are they drift tires or not? heres a pic

it has the battery holder for a stick pack. will i be able to run a 2 cell lipo with it or do i need to change it?

i want to run mamba maxx brushless or sidewinder brushless but how fast/ difficult to control would this thing be with a 210 mm wheel base?

You should be able to download or at least view the manual at HPI's site.

There's a square battery tray for lipos, and good luck getting that foam bumper inside the 510 body

Here is the manual ... http://www.hpiracing.com/manuals/pdf/100594.pdf

Those are the stock tires that come with the kit. There is a specific part for lipo batteries unless you get the ones in the hardcase that look like a regular shotgun style pack.

thanks i have the instruction manual that came with the car and redid the front shocks already. im going to try and get a new 510 body on tuesday and some electronocs.
do you guys know if a 190mm body will fit? i think it might be to big but i want to make sure. if it doesnt ill get a 510 and cut the foam bumper to make it fit.
what would be a good brushless system and pinion for these that will make it haul azz but not be stupid fast? im probably going to get a jr servo

You'll need a Cup Racer body. Touring-car bodies are too long (WB is off by about an inch). You might find a Bolink or Mini Cooper body that will fit.

Any LED kits designed for a touring car will work. Cup Racer or Mini bodies will work. Just make sure they say they are good for a 225mm wheelbase.

The 510 is designed for a 225 wheelbase. I have the car myself and chose that wheelbase due to the fact that there are more body options in that wheelbase.

Currently I am running a basic setup of the HPI X30 motor with a Dynamite Tazer ESC so that my wife can enjoy driving it. Later on I plan on putting in a brushless setup though at this point I'm not sure which one.

Brushless? Hop up everything. Not too high KV otherwise it will be hard to control. I ran thru 2 cup racers !
