Well I can tell you that my crawler, with the pede tranny, 55t lathe motor, 12t spur and an 87t pinion will pull a surprising amount of weight. I was sitting in a wooden drawer with wheels that prolly weighed 10-15lbs and my crawler pulled me around just fine, I weigh 156lbs. So you might just out pull them if you can get the power to the ground.

Two of my friends got outpulled by a savage the other day. They had electric pullers. It was quite shameful to see.

I pulled my brother and me on one of those scoot n' do or whatever they are called garden things. Together we weighed about 280 lbs. I am running pede trans, 87 spurr, 13 pinion. I should also say when I tried to pull myself with my maxx I barley moved at all.

id say youd have more opportunity to win... electric motors can produce more constant torque, thats why trains use a deisel generator to power the electric motors to move the thing.... a lot of the reason the nitro vehicles can pull more is because they are much bigger and the ratio of weight between the sled and the R/C is closer... with that said i think you can beat any nitro vehicle with a decent electric motor

It's all about the weight of the rig. If you're running lathes and are geared all you need is more weight.

A good example is when several years ago I hooked my '84 Buick 4dr, AKA- The Ark, to my buddies 4x4 Ranger and pulled him across the parking lot. My car was 2wd and had an open rear but weight the better part of 1,5k lbs+ more than his truck.

My old 2.2 Clod with 55t's pulled a 15lb trailor w/ about 50-60lbs on it with no added wieght. I then added a 2liter bottle full of water to the bed and proceeded to pull my 1:6 Nylint across the CARPET.

Pulling sled = broken parts
This shows with out weight add to the truck and with weight add to the truck.

I have need scene a gas truck out pull a truck in a tug of war. Even gayass RCC did a emaxx/tmaxx shoot out and the emaxx dragged the tmaxx around like a rag doll. Its all about how you set your truck up, you want your wieght forward, tires with alot of traction and something with a v-thread so itll clean the dirt out, your also going to want as low as gear as possible in most cases AND alot of go juice, at least 7 cells, more like 8 if you can. I pull in the NCRTPA in the box stock class... This clod drags 60 lbs with out a problem on dirt on 7 cells with 2 integy 55s turns, 9 tooth in the rear and 10 tooth in the front to fight clod stall...

Here is dragging around a TTR Ripper before the lathes and pinions

Its all about your set up, if you set up right you should be ok, I wouldnt hesistate to out this up against any gas truck

just look at hotrod trucks and tractors. in the dirt the nitro will eat up an electric. wheel speed is a +. on hard surface tho the electric might be better.

An electric motor has full torque instantly, where as a gas motor has to spool up, in the NRCTPA the Electric trucks almost always out pull the gas ones.

In a pulling contest I'd beat on the electric everytime.
Like stated above, instant torque.
Mine pulls me on a skateboard, and I weigh 203lbs.

So what have we learned folks.
Fastest top speed = electric wins
Pulling the most weight = electric wins

Why nitro then?
So the electric guys have someone to embarrass.

What about tires and rims? Pro-Line, Imex, etc. 2.2, clod size, 40s, maxx.

I got my a$$ handed to me by a stock T-maxx with my stock clod wheels on my 13lb crawler. Later on with my moabs 1/2 throtle on my part was all it took to run around like the t-maxx was just sitting there dead.
