Default should i use a bec?

i have a sprint 2 (i know its not a crawler but my question is about the electronics) that im trying to set up to be strong and fast as possible.

for electronics im using:
mamba max pro esc
castle 4700kv
2 cell lipo
hitec hs-625 servo

with this set up should i run a 10 amp bec?

Yeah well.

2S lipo and the Mamba in a road car should be fine.

I would say that car is better off without the added clutter of a BEC and its wiring, you won't notice a thing, as even under the hardest driving conditions for an on-road car you really wont be binding up the steering causing huge draws on the BEC, its fine.

The bec? Yeah, more so than on the road car.

ok thanks. ive never used a bec before, how are these wired? and could i run it if the scx10 has a shift servo for a summit trans on a 3 channel radio?

You only need bec on the steering servo. For your shift servo, if you set it up properly (so it wont bind at whatever speed selected), you will not need BEC for that.

For the steering servo, I will get a Y-harness, the male connector will go to the receiver and the BEC goes to one of the female connector and the servo connect to the other female connector. Cut the postive wire to the receiver, so the BEC only provide electrical power to the servo and not the receiver (it will still be powered by the ESC), and cut the signal wire at the BEC side of the Y-harness. Connect it all up and you are done.
