will a traxxes rustler tranny work for a tlt project better than a e-maxx trans?

I Wouldnt use one.. over a maxx tranny at least

good to know someone was trying to trade me out of my nylint for a rustler that has the spur gear stripped and the rear wheels gone for my nylint and dint know if the trans was worth anything.

I mean, its worth SOMETHING but dont trade ur nylint for it, Lol but i wouldnt ever choose it over e-maxx tranny, i "think" the maxx tranny is tough

Yup, I'm building a maxx, the trannies are huge, and heavy. There's a reason you don't see them that often in TLT's. The 2 speed is a non issue being that you need to lock them in one gear or the other to crawl well.

Doesn't matter, the trans on it's own is worth more than the nylint.

Rustler / Pede trannys are going for over $40 apiece on e-bay, just to give you an idea.
