My love of VW's has led to a few projects. Here are a couple of pics of my bug, Rocco. I didnt have any place to legally go offroad, and I'm getting old and my back couldn't handle the offroading anymore, so I went with a street rod kinda deal instead. Long way to go, but here's how it sits right now This gives me an oportunity for two rc projects one baja version of Rocco, one Volksrod version. This thread will be about the baja version |

so, started with two rustler chassis. Cut each of them in half and grafted them together to lengthen the wheelbase. added some losi mrc wheels and some 1.9 flat irons (thanks Nick), and a proline baja bug slash body. and this is where I'm at so far. LONG way to go |

well, I totally screwed this one up. I trimmed the body as close to what Rocco would have been , as close as I could get with that wacky front end that Proline uses, still not sure what they were thinking. That part went well, but I screwed up the paint job. |

I thought about the duratrax bug, but I already had a buttload of rustler parts. So far I've only had to buy the body, wheels, and tires. There's been a lot of fabrication involved, but that's what I enjoy the most out of this hobby anyway. As far as my botched paint job, I'm going to just deal with the color for now, as much as I dislike it, after the body gets torn up a bit, I'll repaint it on the outside. I have some paint that's the same as what Rocco used to be. Got the front bumper mounted today. The camera angle makes that wheel look like its a LOT farther out than it really is and started on the rear bumper |

a little progress. scx10 sliders, switched the esc over to a non waterproof xl-5 (my stepson needed a waterproof one). I'm using a Team Orion 15 turn double and traxxas 7 cell nihm. I found out quickly that those beadlocks didn't work :P Had to glue them. |
