Bringing back this old thread because I have the same question. I’m looking for a 2wd basher but not an SCT style. More of a MT or ST. Something with a tranny that’ll handle 3S brushless power without shredding gears.

I’m leaning towards the Traxxas Stampede or Rustler for ease of parts availability and RPM replacements. Is there any other I’m missing? I’ve got some ECX Amps for the kids but they won’t handle the power. I picked up a Duratrax used on the cheap and it lasted 3 minutes 2S brushless.

I don’t know really. I’ve got an Exo Terra and a hopper up Bomber. Have an SC10 and it’s kinda fun but too bulky to bash on.

I’ve been watching some YouTube videos on the Rustler and it’s fairly versatile. 100mph speed runs and with bigger tires can bash about decently.

The Stampede is a Traxxas High Roller of sorts using the Rustler bits.

Add a Mini ERevo and 2wd Slash to my short list that’s getting longer. Looks like Traxxas has the basher market sewn up by using metal gears in most all they’re stuff. Found a source for sliders and a few rollers to keep costs down since I’ve got all the electronics and plenty of wheels/tires.

Mini e revo's can be fun. I replaced a lot of parts on mine though. If rpm makes it, replace it. The slash should be fine though. The body protects the tires and suspension more.

I was considering the stadium/open wheel style just so I could run any tires I want. The SCT body limits that aspect.

Stampede, hands down

I've had my Stampede for 20 years now, if the baby my Sister is carrying shows any interest and once it's old enough, I intend to buy that kid a Stampede of it's own, even if it's a girl........my Sister does daily a Plum Crazy Challenger R/T Classic and our Mom used to Daily a '70 Charger that was a factory 440 Six Pack and 4 Speed car after all

I was leaning towards the Stampede. Went ahead and got a slider and will put my leftovers into and on it. Thinking of using a Parma Skool Bus body.

Stampede slider arrived. I stuck a 3660 2600kV motor on 2s and wheelies ensued. 3s does backflips. So I’m gonna cobble together a wheelie bar and add some weight to the front. I was using some China Hyrax on 2.2 wheels but found a true set of TRX Stampede wheels/tires in my box-O-tires. Score one for the hoarder. It actually scoots along very well with this motor combo and will break traction in dry dirty conditions. Excellent.

The other day I was driving my sons stock stampede and was having loads of fun. That brushless system has to be nuts though.

I don’t yet have a body for it. I ordered a China knock off Grave Digger and it’ll show up some day. Meanwhile my kids ECX Amp MT body looks close and there’s an unpainted body somewhere in my pile of parts boxes. I’ve got a Wraith Spawn body that’s close, too. But the body posts won’t allow it to fit.

I may as well jump on this thread too instead of starting another. I'm looking for a basher smaller than 1/10. I'm thinking the e-revo vxl but it looks like it's discontinued now but I can still order from Summit racing.
Also looking at the Losi mini 8ight-t and Mini 8IGHT-DB.
The DB is the same price as the E-revo @$249. The truggy is $279.

I want something small enough I can throw into a backpack to take to the park so my dog can chase it. Since my dog will be chasing it, it needs to be rugged and spare parts readily available. I want 4wd to go over grass. Also 3s capable. I'm sure some of you have experience with one or the other or both. Which one is the better value? Any other suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Less than 1/10 will have a difficult time in grass as tall, or taller than its tires!

Well it’s more dirt and trampled down elementary school grass than actual tall grass!
