As cool as the sand rails are, they're about the opposite end of the autosports realm from crawling, and this is RC Crawler. Check Colquit Customs in the vendors section. He sells some awesome chassis.

The tools, materials, and methods used to build sandrail chassis', and those used to build crawling "tubers" are pretty much identical. Do a search for building tubers, brakeline, mapp gas, brazing etc to learn a lot about the building of such chassis'.

I was referring to his comment about a sandrail section here. You make a good point though, the chassis build is very similar. Probably why one of our vendors makes rails also.

Why was this thread created in General Crawlers?

I know sand rails are cool and all but if it is NOT crawler related, DO NOT post it in any of the crawler tech forums.

Moved to chit chat.

ColquittCustom405 builds a sweet sandrail. He is the one who started the sandrail craze here. I built mine after I saw the spy video of his. I used 5/32" steel rod to build mine, a Stampede trans, Traxxas and HPI parts for arms and suspension, and its powered by a Novak SS5800 brushless system. I also used Double J's guy to get it powder coated Metalic Candy Red. You can check out the links in my sig, and if you are wanting to build one your self, I also have a video in my sig with the full build up from design to test run.

Colquitt is the man to see on this. His work is top of the line. I am very picky about custom built tube rigs...if there not square I sell them off as it make me nutz Obviously as you can see the time/$$ invested in this, makes its nothing short of perfect. thats my rail and its fawkin awesome, he built the chassis and I sent it out for powder coating, made all the panels myself out of lexan. Its running Jato arms up front with revo/jato turn buckles. Novak 5800 bl system with a pede trans/arms with cvds and lundford ti turn buckles. Integy shocks on the rear, and progressive suspension up front. Has a dash from a big bear and my last 2 cell phone recaro race seats were at the PO this morning for me. I am going to decal it and finish up the details this weekend.

When you consider the time and effort, not to mention the parts and supplies, 220$ isnt alot for a tube frame. I know of alot of other guys out there who charge a hell of alot more for a tube frame work.

If you have built something similiar b4, then give it a try again, you got nothing to loose other then some brake line tubing
