Default Xray t2 or 3racing sakura d3 cs

im looking to get a new onroad car that i can turn into my drift car. i already have a front motor sprint 2 and a hb cyclone s.

both the xray and 3racing are the same price but the xray needs some attention. the previous owner used to race it and is known for beating his stuff into the ground. however i am willing to rebuild it if it is worth the effort. the xray appears to be missing some parts but does say it comes with spares.

the 3racing sakura d3 cs is brand new that i would need my lhs to order for me, but it is already countersteered unlike the xray. ive read a bit about the chassis and it seems to be a good buy for the price and only need a front one way.

my biggest concern is how difficult is it to get parts for, and how good are they as drift cars?

how much have you drifted a 50:50 car before?
have you driven a cs car before?

Parts for the D3 are really easy to get actually. Don't be fooled by the low price, its a quality chassis, strong and very capable. If you have never drifted with counter-steer though, it can be frustrating and the D3 comes with a lot of it. It took me a few drift sessions to get comfortable with it but now I couldn't go back to a 50/50 setup.

Check out TQRCRACING for parts

ive drifted a 50:50 car only a few times. my old sprint 2 had a slight cs and i only drifted it a few times as well.

im kinda leaning towards the xray because of their quality and i can always swap pulleys to make it a cs car.

i just talked to the people at the lhs. they said the xray is a t1 fk05 and needs alot of parts. they pretty much said the $150 asking price isnt worth it because of how much it needs and difficulty of getting parts. they also said that parts from a t2-t4 would not work.

they said i can get the 3racing for $70 more but is back ordered, and that it is a great chassis for the money

i havent owned a D3 but ive seen so many complaints about how there is no belt tentioners. everyone seems to like them though and they even have the front engine for that hype

The D3 has two tensioners, one in the rear and an optional one for the center.

I'd get the d3 it's like 120 on eBay in kit and you can make a center tensioner with a rod end and bearings

im getting the d3 sometime in mid december, i ordered a front one way diff for it as well.

most of the issues ive seen with it from reading about it was if you kept the spool up front it would eat the front belt under braking. also i saw that these arent really the best beginnner drifter because of the 1.8 cs ratio.

Very good choice, although i did quite a bit of research and decided on the SakuraXI Sport
For my first drift car..because everything i read said the CS cars are very hard to drive , and take a lot of wheel to get the hang of it...
They dont drive in a straight line very well at all..
With the right pullies, you cs a 50/50 car...

Just my 5 cents.. good luck

yea i know how difficult they are to drive straight. my first sprint 2 had a slight cs on it and it didnt want to go straight. im just not sure about how difficult it will be to drive on with a sensored 10.5t brushless motor

I like the D3 a lot. I've driven it as a 5050 car and with CS. It drives really nice as a 5050 car. If you're getting a 1way you will have the rear pulley you'll need to convert it. you'd just need 1 more 13t pulley to make it 5050 and then the stuff to convert it to CS later.

Mine is toned down to 1.6CS and its a lot more friendly than out of the box. I'm a CS newb so even at that it's a real hand full.

Spent some more time with the D3. I tried HPI super drift tires on it and its a different car with 1.67CS. I'm loving it right now.
