What kind of weight are you looking to pull? Most trucks will pull somewhere a round 3 to 4 times the trucks weight . But if your set on being the guy that has to pull the most weight go to the carpet pulling side of the sport .....STUPID!!!!!!! amounts of weight . Just remember if you pull it someone has to transport that weight to where ever your pulling .

Just like any other competition, there are class rules that govern what runs in each class.
On dirt, the 2wd Pro Mod electric class (10# truck) pulls 40-50#
Same for the 4wd classes. (10#)
Bigger Classes like the 2wd Open 1 will pull 80-90#
The NR/CTPA has a couple gas classes using chain saw motors that pull around125#
Carpet class pulling has all but faded out but in the hay day had classes that pulled 600# in a sled. I have a heavily modified Clodbuster that would pull 400# in competition and has at several shows, pulled full size vehicles.
