| Budget Build ? for Electronics
Just purchased a beaten E Maxx for a winter build. What Im looking at is this - Turnigy TrackStar Waterproof 1/8 Brushless Power System 1900KV/120A Im curious if anyone has ever purchased any HobbyKing/Turnigy ESC combos and what they have thought about the overall quality? I have run a few of their Lipo's and have never had any quality issues with them but curious about the electronics. Thanx for any info provided. |

I have no idea about that particular combo but I have run this motor in my 1/8 truggy and it's awesome. Turnigy TrackStar 1/8th Sensored Brushless Motor 2100KV I would say the performance is every bit as good as a Tekin T8 and I have had no issues with the quality. The tradeoff is zero customer support for $100 less. My cousin has this speed controller in his truggy and it's been rock solid. Turnigy TrackStar 120A Brushless Short Course Truck ESC I thought it would run hot because it is meant for 1/10 SC trucks but it never gets more than warm to the touch running a 2200kv 1/8 motor on 4s. I wouldn't spend more than $50-60 on a Hobbyking ESC since that isn't much less than a Hobbywing ESC which is much higher quality and you get an actual warranty if you order from an authorized dealer. |

I have that system..ran it a while in my 1/8 truggy...tried getting the motor into my Losi Ten but it's too big of diameter for the pan...due to the ribbing. Great combo for the price and I've had Tekin T8's and RX8's....they are comparable definetely. There is suppose to be a sweet Leapoard motor that blows any other motor out of water..i keep forgetting model # Sent from a whiskey downer beer pounder's shop |

Ive had a few guys suggest that Tenshock motors are probably the best bang for the $. Maybe that's the one your thinking of?

Not overly concerned about weight. With it being a MT its going to be a basher anyway. I'm just trying to figure the best bang for buck systems so i can take the excess $ I didn't spend on tekin or castle to upgrade other components
