| Scale monster truck ???
Hey guys I have been thinking for a while about wanting to build up a scale monster truck but on a budget. This might sound like a contradictory term but what's the most affordable / capable platform to use. I have been looking at the txt-1. Things I want to incorporate for sure are metal chassis /maybe cage, widest axles possible, largest tires possible. I would love to have a 1/8 or 1/6 scale. I can't decide between MOA or drive shaft. I think drive shaft would look better I'm just a basher so it would be more for fun. I can't decide if I want 100% true scale or for it to have the tires streached out past the chassis for better crawling capability. It would be great to be able to have a beastly looking truck that is also a performer as well. Would i be better off buying a factory truck and modding or is there a aftermarket chassis someone makes that would save me some funds in the long run. I live on a budgeted income that only gives me enough cash flow to buy about one rc a year. Would like to hear you guys thoughts |

For a scale monster truck you aren't going to find much without building from scratch. The larger you want the more expensive it's going to get. For 1/8 or 1/6 scale you are going to have to go Twin Force axles most likely, expect to pay a little over $300 for those axles. Otherwise you can build smaller with some Wraith axles. A cheaper option that isn't scale but is pretty strong would be Clod axles. As for a chassis, if you want scale you'll have to build a tube chassis yourself. I have plans for one on my website that makes it pretty easy. Otherwise you could get a Barbarian chassis for about $120 and it would give you a decent performing platform although not that scale. Not sure why you were talking about crawlability, what you are talking about is far from a crawler of any sort. The chassis plans can be found here: Mega Mud Truck Chassis Template | Harley Designs Here are a couple snapshots of them and what the outcome was (mine was built as a Mega Truck). |

I guess the best thing to help understand what direction I wanna go is to post up some pictures. Harley I really value your input I'm a huge fan of your YouTube videos. I should habe worded it differently in terms of crawlability. I guess what I'm getting at is something that doesn't flip over easy which us why I wanted the widest wheelbase possible. I understand the bigger I go the more the price goes up.

If you can find a juggernaut 2 or txt-1 to start with that will be your most scale platform of axles if your looking for kit based axles. Rc4wd has some pretty awesome scale monster truck axles too. Most the tube chassis trucks you see will have been home made. New Era models did made a tube chassis though for clods and juggs back in the day. I just picked up this scale monster truck off ebay. Built by F150highlift, made to resemble an old school monster truck. Last edited by 1BadJeepBruiser; 11-10-2014 at 07:54 PM. Reason: had wrong builder |

Here's my barbarian / wraith MT. Like Harley said, they aren't the most scale (like a full tuber), but it's close enough for me. They are really designed for performance. This is very predictable in its driving. Last edited by tedo; 11-08-2014 at 06:35 AM. |

I'm working on one based on ground pounder axles and a wheely king chassis. It isn't so budget anymore though. I should have just bought a ground pounder and went from there
