Thanks guys, wasn't sure if you all would be interested in a build like this. I guess I will continue posting progress over here.
BigSki If I had the cabbage to purchase full hydraulics for this I would, I hope the screw drive units work out good.

So the micro gear motors came in and I think they will work fine as long as I can figure out how to wire them up with some type of limit switches.
electronics are not my thing, hell im still using NIMH batteries lol.

Thanks you

Made one of the bucket dumping crowning rams, I took some tubing and ran a tap through it (outside cylinder) then I took another small diameter section of tubing and ran a die down it (inner cylinder)and drilled a hole at the base of it for a grub screw. Then chucked up a section of aluminum rod in my drill press and turned down a cap for the cylinder. I cant use the mounting point that I planned to use, but the way its going to work out now will be even better as it hides the gear motor.

retracted

fully extended

I might be able to up my game a bit, I think I have the wife talked into a lathe!

Where did you source those motors?

You can find them on ebay. There are a multitude of sizes and specifications so can't point you directly to which one he has. Just search for electric micro motor with gearbox.

Great looking tractor. I've been toying with the same idea but have too little time and too many projects already.

I got these motors from servocity through ebay and the ones I decided to use are 30:1 units. These motors are the gearmotors they use in the scale winches I believe.

The home made linear actuators are cute. Like looking at 17HMR bullets not kittens. Although I do like to pet them.

I'm not sure what blows me away the most! The quality of the fabrication, the quality of the sketches, or the quality of your kitchen! Amazing work.

Great build all around, thanks for sharing it here! I agree that your hand sketches are top notch. All of it looks top notch.

For the actuators, have you come up with ideas for the limit switches? I assume you want to use hobby escs? I have some ideas using switched diodes that would set hard points to the travel but still allow reversing. Need to draw it out though.

No I haven't figured out any of the electronics , to tell you the truth that's my weakness right their. I was thinking of mounting some small limit switches on the inside of the arms and then braze a tab to the outside tube of the actuator to trip the switch. It would be friggin awesome if you would share your idea with me, Im sure you have a hell of a grasp on electronics, so please post your drawing when you get the time.
