Default Kyosho Blizzard Volksenvagen

I need some more styrene and i've got an hour before the hobby shop opens so I may as well toss this up here with some back story.

I always wanted to do something with one of these body's. My original idea was to use it on a SCX build but the body is just too small to look proper. Might have been alright on MRC stuff though.

started out like this

After much cutting, gluing and painting it ended up like this

doesnt fit an SCX10 for crap though! It's WAY to narrow.

so after reading Stollenritter's thread (Kyosho Blizzard goes Unitrack) I got this as a none runner and dropped the cab on to see whats up.

Thats more like it!

So of course I took the tracks off to make things more manageable for working on. Then I got to building. Here is where im at so far. I am doing my best to not just out right copy him

More to come after my styrene run.

Thanks for looking

That's silly, in a funny way. Cool though.

I now very much regret cutting the wheel wells out to clear the 1.55 growlers. But I have old MX tubes that can solve that problem.

Yay supplies!

Okay so i finally took a few pics. I'm working on a faux ram for tilting the bed, i'll use a body clip or something so it can be locked in 'dump' position. but here is where i am at so far. The bed needs a lot of sanding. fuel tank has a sight glass. uhhh other then that meet Loki.

I'm having trouble deciding what color to use for the box. I'm stuck between tamiya dull red or a dark yellow color. Either way it's going to be heavily weathered and such. I just don't know which way to go. I'm worried the yellow will make it look to toy like.

Black? The yellow if it's made dingy around the corners bed posts etc should be fine.

Not a lot to update, ram is done-ish, still need to make lines to it. I'm not sure what to use as the 'hose' though? and bed is mounted to the hinge, just with two screws so it can be easily removed if needed. its pretty much ready to paint, i have a few small spots that need some filler yet. I'm not going to smooth the entire thing off as I want it to look old and beat so. I also have a seat in it now, IT's the bench from the dinky honcho interior. I need to find a driver before I complete the interior.

Heres a crap instagram pic

You could use Nitro fuel line for the tubing

Fuel line would be way to big. I'll probably just use some winch line.

Hopefully get some paint on this beast this weekend.

Still plugging away. Paint and wash is on. Glued some dirt in the box (not pictured). Still need the clear coat to dull it down and have to make the interior.
