i found a video on youtube by URC about that motor. in the video, he talked about how the shaft on the motor detached from the magnet. so does your motor work right? also, amazing!!! |

Today was a good day so I made some more progress. After getting the bends done up I had this. It fit the old plywood set-up pretty well... ... and the body will cover it like this. So it was time to leave the forest and step into the modern world, so to speak. I got the new chassis all drilled and filed, and with a little fitting... I present my new RC12e-volved. While I was setting up the alum', I bumped the wheelbase 5mm and spread the front track 10mm, for a better fit to the body. Also changed the steering set-up, got rid of the old belcrank/saver, simplified the whole front end and shaved some weight. Then I painted the bottom half... Wahwahwah.... I guess maybe I should've let the purple cure a couple more days, 'cause the white seeped up under the edge in a couple places and it looks like little white grass is growing on top of the white half. aaaaaaargh!! So it goes, I'll fix it somehow. Still lots to do, and I ran out of day, so I only got to test drive the new chassis in the house. So far so good.... Now the real fun starts. Looking good however I don't think weight is a problem your are having with this truck. From previous posts sounds like you will need weight to keep the front wheels on the ground.

Thanks, Bmx', just stay tuned, I'll keep 'em coming. Thank you, joe', I say "brake" to label the process. Mine is just a decent vise and a hard oak board, with some "duck-bill" vise-grips for fine tuning. But I do have experience on industrial brakes (up to 16 footers) so I've had a little practice. Thanks, rare' It's kinda funny, I'm sort of building in both directions .... trying to get the best out of both "alter egos". With the new chassis, I have the room to move the batteries and components to shift the weight and balance fore or aft. Then with an easy gear change, go from Clark Kent to .. well, you know. Anyway, the weather took a crap, but I hope to do some new test runs soon. And get the body mounted and finished up.... and a hitch ... and wheelie-bars ....yatta yatta. Thanks everyone! |

I'm still finishing up the paint and figuring out the bumper/hitch/wheelie-bar set-up that I want. Here is how it's sitting right now. Last edited by dr frankenstyle; 03-27-2016 at 08:54 AM. | |

It didn't get quite warm enough to paint today, so I decided to work on the wheelie bars. I had picked up some 3/32 brazing rods last week, so I used my fender form block and cut some lines in it to make a jig ... ...and cut up some rods and soldered them into side frames. Then added the cross-braces and mounts and axle rings and .... after a bit of filing to clean 'em up, came up with these. Ready for paint and some hose on the bearings for "tires". I plan to make them adjustable, so I can tweak the wheelie height. This is pretty much the planned mounting position, with the wheels a bit higher. I should be able to fine tune them for a nice launch. |
