Differential conversion for Raider XL

Parts Ref; HPI Blitz Flux:

52t diff case 86943 x1
Diff Outdrive 86871 x1

Gear diff bevel set 103400 *see-below*

Silicone o-rings 104726 x1
Diff case washer 86872 x1
Screws - Diffcase z449 x1
Washer/Spacers z892 x1
E-clips z242 x1
Bearing b030 x1

Special notes:

If you want, you can use the 2-spyder gear setup using the parts provided in the set hpi#103400. However...
If you want you can use a 4-spyder setup using x2 of these sets. The pin included will not work in a 4-spyder set.
1set of Xray crosspins #355080 will allow for a 4-spyder gear to drop into the diffcase. Just make sure to have all x4 spyders shimmed the same.

Heat treat the out drives from HPI and cool them in motor oil, Not by water. Although these outdrive shafts arent as nearly soft as the Arrma units, this process with further harden the steel. By cooling in motor oil gives it a carbon reaction or something to that matter.

HPI Diffcase is a direct fit into the Arrma transmission case. But the diffcase needs to be spaced using x5 washers #z892 to center this inside the transmission.

*This will save you money if you decide against the CVD conversion (previous post).

Both the CVD conversion & Diff mod DIYs are done for now. Ill be ordering the parts for the diff mod including the 6x86mm dogbone. This saves me time and a heap of cash because in the past i know A.E parts are not cheap.

This is all good to know. Maybe a little more than I care to invest in bulletproofing a vehicle but since I have no tracks to break parts on, I usually don't have to go quite as far with the upgrades. It's nice to be able to use parts from other brands and to have that compatibility information available. Great find on the MIP CVD's. I wish I could have them on all of my cars.

So many cars...

See..thing is... This is not something i wanted to do. It is because of a bad design in the parts. It litterly tears its own parts apart!

More then i cared to invest myself but... I payed for a buggy that only got 20min runtime so i am left fixing Arrmas screw ups.

Update
Ordered all the parts associated to get a Blitz Flux diff in this Raider XL along with the shims and outdrives. Also ordered Jconcept Rips for the fronts and PL Split-Six to match the rears.

And while i was it i ordered some spares for the Arrma.

Update
Although the shop had a big portion of the list of parts in stock, there were a few they had to order in. Should hopefully be here for friday so they can ship it to me. If not...then they say Tuesday April 12th then ship the stuff out.

So..im down for atleast a week if not more?

Again...thanks Arrma, much appreciated. Lmfao

New Update

Arrma got back to me with an email reply.
I basically told them i was extremely pissed about this product. The rep asked if i wanted replacements for which i fired that back in his face. Told them there was no point to reinstall a failed design of a differential and other parts back into the vehicle all for it to fail right after putting it back in there. I also told them i had ordered all new parts from the blitz to remedy this problem.

The guy still insisted the parts that failed could still be sent to me. I replied and told him the part#s so im sure he will send them to me. Lol

Ill have an Arrma paper weight (differential) haha

Parts showed up today...sorta??

HPI Blitz Flux diff parts are missing o-rings, screws and the bevel gears.

Crosspins far too big in Dia. and too long?

arrma outdrives Gen1 are much thicker in material but... Pins from Gen2 are too fat to go through the Gen1 outdrives?
Also making the shim real tight?

After doing my research and parts other members say work....just dont?

Only thing that went good...love my new Jconcept Rips tires on Split-six wheels.

This seems to have fixed the problem. New and beefier outdrives which i needed to drill out the hole bigger for the bevel pin. Also had to sand the internal preload spacers with 400g. Filled them with HypoyC gearoil.

Works awesome but when i get the remaining parts in my hands ill go to a 4-spyder gear in them

I have a 1/10 scale Arrma and an 1/8 scale Arrma, they are completely different. The 8th scale is legit, very tough and well designed.

The 1/10 scale is toy grade crap, it has been relegated to Thursday night drag racing with no suspension or body and plenty of Traxxas parts. It's junk.

The "1/8 scale" Raider is just a longer 1/10 scale Raider, it has nothing to do with the other 1/8 scale Arrmas. I wouldn't spend a dollar trying to make it work any better, the transmission can't hold up for more than a week. Front shock towers shatter constantly too, and only come in a bag with 20 other parts.

The Fury I had for drag nights is now in a box, never to be fixed again. Garbage.
