Default My new TT02 Chassis kit

The TT02 has a 257mm WB, if you flip the rear A arms you get a 251mm WB

If you take one step further and flip the front A arm you get a 245mm WB

And you have make a shock mounts for the A arms, so you can flip them

I made simple mounts out extra hardware to mount the front shocks

Little paint and they look good to me

I went thru all the work of flipping the front A arms and making shock mounts to be able to use this Vintage Nikko Toyota hardbody

Removed the over sized blown motor cause its not to scale, and going to use a smaller blown motor cause its closer to scale

It looks pretty good for pulling a rabbit out of my ass, cause I make shit up as I go along and change directions in a minute

My TA02 is the Dodge Ram going to add the Hemi and use the oversized motor on my Honda/Brat Street racer

That body looks bad ass on there!

Why did you have to make a custom mount for the shocks though?

Cause I flipped the front A arms and shorten the chassis to 245mm instead 251mm if you flip the rears only

I wanted to make my own version of a Street Scorcher and with rear wheel wideners and 26mm wide wheels it has the street look I wanted, but I have cut/trim the nose piece on the Bug body

To get the body centered and really don't want to trim it, and then I would need to figure out mounts that lift the body enough, so the front wheels turn and the body sits level and still looks good but low at the same time

Its above my skill level for now, for the Toyota and Ram body I can use the stock mounts from the kits and would be a lot easier

Interesting stuff you've got going on there good sir!

We did an on road weekend last week and someone had a Vaterra with a TF2 Yota body. It looked great! Really like the low Yota look.

I got the blower motor mounted to the hood, using some aluminum plate and some Shoo Goo and drywall tape, looks good to me

Man that street bug body is screaming 80's bumblebee!
Bright yellow paint with a red autobot logo would be awesome! Especially with the new movie coming out and they confirmed he will be a bug!!!

Not a Transformers fan, but I might keep looking for another Sand Scorcher nose piece and trim it so the shocks/chassis does not interfere with the body sitting on the TT02 chassis

I bought a Yeah Racing Hackmoto 13T brushed motor and a Hobbywing 1060 brushed esc and found 3 used Futaba S148 servo's,

Remember seeing the S148 servo over 30 some years ago, it was in Futaba packs, that had the Stick radio's or the Magnum Sport radio's with AM receivers and the double AA battery holders

And 4 S148's for the stick radio's and 2 S148's for the Magnum radio's, there was also a option of a S129 servo and a S148 servo, I remember looking at the Radio's setups and Tamiya RC kits as a kid

But never could afford one when they were all the crazy in the 80's, I'm only 30 years late to the party

i hear ya on being 30 years late. i had a blackfoot in like 1990 and i think my buddy had a lunchbox.
pretty sure i had those futaba servos on the blackfoot for steering and mechanical speed controller.
that's why i still like futaba radios today haha the nostalgia factor.

actually... the blackfoot might still be in my mom's basement??? i need to go rummage someday and see if its there!

2 of my cousins still have vintage Tamiya's, one has a lunchbox and the other has a Blitzer Beetle, My uncle used to own a Radio Shack and used to sell Tamiya RC kits, he was going to send me kit, I never got a kit

I used to drive the neighbors kids, Brat, Grasshopper, and Wild Willy, I got to use the Brat a lot, the Wild Willy a little bit, and the Grasshopper a few times, I remembered how much fun the Brat was, So I bought a 83-84 Brat

When looking for the Brat, I found a TA02 that was all there and cheap so I had 2 Tamiya's in a blink of an eye and kept seeing TT01's and TT02's builds with different bodies other than the stock Lexan bodies that come in the kits

And really liked the Street Scorcher look, I also love the look of the Valterra Lowered Chevy Truck, they have a simple old school look to them that I like

Change of plans, I bought this Vintage Tamiya Alfa Romeo Selenia 156 Racing body, its from a FF02 chassis so it has a 257mm, I will flip the TT02 A arms around and make the chassis 257MM and run it

And will touch up the paint and back with a solid color and Shoo-Goo and drywall tape the body, its missing the rear spoiler that goes on the trunk lid, maybe I can find a spoiler or make one out aluminum plate

I could also use the foam front bumper that came in the kit, it might not be to bad after the body is stiffened with Goo and the Drywall tape

I found a rear spoiler with mounting screws for less than $8.50, it shouldn't look that bad once its mounted and the old holes in the trunk filled in and touch up painted

i have a TT01 (controlled by old crystal freq. style futaba) in storage i will probably pass down to my son as i am moving on to RWD drift setup.
he actually wants a Tamiya brat body on his barrage haha

and yes the slammed trucks look great. sometimes i see hilux drifters and they look amazing with some old school wheels on them. maybe a clodbuster or rc4wd blazer would look cool too!
i really... REALLY want to build a CC-01 drifter. i know exactly what i want to do, just need to get this vaterra finished and that's next on my list!

i like the alfa romeo! rare and unordinary stuff is where its at!

The Brat I used years ago had the hard plastic Brat body and it had a high center of gravity and would roll over a lot, the Released Brat had the Lexan body and had a lower center of gravity, I found a set CRP shocks and the shock mounts for my Brat

And are using Losi MRC shock springs,it's a lot better, I was going to use my Sand Scorcher body on my Brat, now using a Vintage lexan Honda Civic body that did have a 257mm wheelbase it was trimmed badly to fit on my TA02 chassis which was 260mm wheelbase, I again trimmed it to fit the Brat wheel base

Have seen a few hard bodied Brats and Sand Scorchers and the RC4WD Toyota truck bodies on Drift chassis and they look badass, I also seen a lot older sedans and coups with exhaust and intercoolers and interior detail and liked it

I have never tried drifting a RC, I remember seeing a group of guys at the park, that had took PVC pipe and fitted it on set of 1.9'' touring car rims and had a small course set in part of the parking lot that was not being used

A couple of the guys could go around the course, in one continuous slide and never lose traction, looks like throttle control and braking have a lot to do with the car sliding that and having a good quality radio

yeah its not that hard. pretty fun too. i have my TT01 and an old associated TC3 both setup for drift. lock the diffs and throw on some PVC or just shell out the $20 for drift wheels and its a blast. I'm curious what my yeti would do with drift wheels hahaha

once i get to all my old stuff and get that CC01 drifter built, i will most likely start a drift thread here. might be like 8-10 months though lol

I don't need anymore RC's, but I did, look seriously hard at the Lowered Street version CC01 and with the steering mods and some chassis trimming you could make the CC01 a drifter, looked at CC01 builds and seen a lot of cool builds

Not a lot street or drifter builds thou, mostly how to make it crawl decent, I would like to see what you come up with and how it handles

I looked at used TT01 chassis' and kits and seen some 2wd drive ones with modified steering and amount the wheels where aloud to turn is crazy, especially when you see the car completely side ways and drifting baby

Might have to wait until you post a beginnings section as a sub topic in the Drifters Thread

like i said, it might be a while. this vaterra is priority 1 and its nowhere near done.
