Re: Worried about Tamiya MAP pricing? New Mini-Chassis competitor... "mini" competitors have always been around. They have always been significantly cheaper too. Non are TCS legal and most clubs won't run them with the tamiya mini. |

AE86 trueno look better scale on that chassis but its so hard to find a good body for it. Best I have seen is hpi club racer but its Levin without the flip up lights. I like my drift 80s Toyota's with flip ups. Anywho thats rad and tempting to throw a crx body for some fwd grip fun! |

I'm likely to wait and get a AWD platform Mini that I can easily convert to RWD, ideally with a mid-or rear motor, to be as scale-accurate as I can get for the Stratos. The Stratos bodyshell requires a very low frontal profile in between the front shock towers, or else it sits much too high in front. Unfortunately Tamiya Mini Chassis tend to be bulky - I SO wish the HPI Cup Racer chassis was still in production... MAYBE (don't know for certain) the M-06 PRO might be low enough. If I find one that works, my alternate bodies that would meet scale-criteria would be the Alpine Renault A110, the NSU TTS and the Fiat Abarth 1000 TCR - all being rear-engine and RWD. I'd be happy to have a second Mini chassis with FWD such as this, and one of roughly a half-dozen different FWD bodies that I like. (Honda Civic, Honda CRX, VW Golf...) |

Didn't check this one out yet, as it's backordered. Seems every single time a RC Mart item is mentioned, shipping has to be brought up. This would likely kick most of Tamiya's FWD chassis' tail, performance-wise... It's much lighter and easier to tune the suspension. |

New Mini-Chassis competitor... the only time you should honestly be worried about tamiyas pricing is.. kinda never. they have been well priced for what you get in the box for a long time. though.. the only complaint I have is the fb rx7 body... should not have been a m chassis car. though they may be small.. but they are not much smaller than a fd. I like the m chassis. but I also like the ABC hobbies chassis as well. not sure if you can get them anymore though. |

RC Mart still sells ABC Mini-chassis kits, example here: ABC Hobby Gambado 1/10 FF HONDA CR-Z Cusco Racing Ver. Grid M Chassis Touring Car Kit #25607, They use friction dampers, yet are $60 more than the Sakura Mini... Did you not see the article about the June 1 change in Tamiya's pricing policy? "A few days ago hobby shops received notice of Tamiya's new Minimum Advertised Price Program. Their program only allows hobby dealers to advertise and sell their products at a pre-set discounted price. This means that every hobby dealer can only sell their products at Tamiya's MAP price. Their rational with this program is to halt the massive unfettered discounting of their products in the marketplace. They feel this lessens the value of Tamiya products and harms their brand. Hobby shops have been told by their suppliers that Tamiya will strictly enforce this program and any dealer not in accordance will not be allowed to sell their products. What does this mean for you? The program takes effect on June 1, 2018. All hobby dealers will be required to alter their pricing to adhere to the Tamiya Minimum Advertised Price Program. On that date, hobby shops will have no choice but to raise selling prices on all Tamiya products. They will also be required to not include any Tamiya products to any sales promotions as this would cause them to not be in compliance with the rules of their program and put them in jeopardy of losing their ability to sell Tamiya." I never had issues paying for their product before, just hoping that we can still get them relatively affordably in the future. The M-chassis prior to the M-07 are archaic in design and somewhat low-performance, although fun in their own way. |

I remember only paying maybe 160 for it through my hobby shop. aw what the hell.. guess ill stick to just the bodies from now on. 260 is not worth an m-06 kit. no way. now I see what you mean. really freakin sucks. makes me wish losi still did onroad. |

It might, but frankly with the cost of creating the molds for all those parts, and them not being as collectible (read expensive) in the first place as the big-wheeled Tamiya truck series - I'd imagine not. The more modern chassis design that starts with a single or double plate of FRP or a similar material is likely cheaper to manufacture... ...And easy to design in FWD, RWD, and AWD. (at least that's my hope!) 3d-printing has got to have brought the costs of designing and engineering a decently performing chassis down quite a bit. |
