Default RC10DS - 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Pinky

Back in May 2013 I created a thread that was meant to be about a specific car project but it got convoluted with other projects and the thread lost focus. It was suppose to be about Pinky

Now that ive found a host site for my photos i am slowly working on restoring and organizing my build threads.

Back in 2013 I got a RC10DS from Canada as backup or a "CAR FOR PARTS" to support the first near new RC10DS i purchased. The Canadian DS was in good condition but it needed some repair in the tranny area. I happen to score a tranny at auction as a backup for another car but then decided to give the "CAR FOR PARTS" a new lease on life. Of course being that the DS is a vintage parking lot racer i decided to give it an old school muscle look but with modern day wheel & tire combo courtesy of a now discontinued Pro-Line item. Front axle adapters.

This is what arrived in the mail from Canada

Upgraded to ball bearings.

Proline front axle hub for the sc10 (Unfortunately they have been discontinued). They allow for modern 12mm front wheels to be used on the DS

These are the modern wheels and rubber that will be used on this car

MIP 4N1 clutch and spring setup

Short Shaft Traxxas engine will power thie car

Stock rear bulkhead replaced with a more open silver aluminum version

The rear gearbox was upgraded to ballbearings and gears were replaced. it is buttery smooth

She is starting to look better

What a different a few parts makes on a project...new tranny brace, fuel tank, engine, pipe, and blue locknut highlights.

So before the car became the barracuda known as pinky....she sported a yellow challenger body. you can see the before and after in this next photo.

One day i grabbed a pink RC10DS chassis off ebay and decided to swap out the chassis with the challenger DS...of course that meant i needed a new body... so HPI Cuda body was painted pink to match the new chassis, PINKY was born.

Pink Chassis arrives in the mail

The swap begins

Stainless steel hardware used through out

Pink and blue theme

1970 Barracuda body trimmed and painted

fits on chassis like a glove

Hood and bottom front air diffuser sprayed down with black matte paint

looking good

Decals get placed...the #5 decals were from 1994. i finally found perfect project for them.

Pinky is slowly evolving...she now sports rear aluminum suspension arms and MIP shiny CVD's

PINKY Money Shot

The barracuda body is definitely kiss ass!

And Pinky ? What can I say? She was one of my favorite restore project. It took a long time to get her to this point but well worth it.

So I'm your designated painter?
