Default Team Associated Nomad DB8 Desert Buggy upgrades

Pro-Line F11 17mm hex wheels w/ premounted Badlands MX28 tires, T-Bone Racing front & rear bumpers, stock wheel & tire combo zip-tied to rear of cage for better weight distribution - spare cage and clear body panels custom-painted coming soon, hopefully with new interior panel (whenever it comes back in stock):

Looks fun. How does it stack up against the old Exo Terra?

Never had an Exo, but this is essentially an Associated 1/8th scale buggy with a Lexan-paneled tubular cage replacing the usual buggy body...

So, it's fast, durable, handles well, and will accept many buggy upgrade parts.

I have only run it on pavement so far, and it's much faster than I can deal with on 4S - roughly 40mph...

I have never looked at this buggy before, but it makes me want to take out my Exo which Also handles well at speed.

This thing is screaming to be taken over some sweet jumps

The tube cage is a great mod from a simple lexan shell. Gives it that ‘ride me hard, put me away wet’ look

Of course it’s an Associated rig which for some reason always reminds me of my childhood RC days as the brand that was out of reach for my piggy bank budget( I.e. begging my parents for a birthday present)

That looks beastly! Is it as durable as 1/8th buggies?

All the videos I've seen of it mention them being VERY durable, and show them being launched off of huge BMX-track sized jumps... and also run on U4 racing tracks.

I won't be driving mine off of such huge jumps, so I doubt mine will be breaking on me.

I may order the swaybar kits they sell, and possibly the RPM A-arms for the SC8b/RC8b that I believe are compatible.

I have also heard that Traxxas Desert Racer wheel & tire pre-mounts will fit?

I really hate the color I got, I had ordered the tan version but was sent the green & blue- as soon as I can get off my ass I will be painting up my clear panels set to make it more "mine"...

I have heard the stock servo is the weak spot, so I already have a DS3225 25KG servo waiting in the wings for installation.

Body off pics, so it's easier to see that it's basically a 1/8th scale buggy:

Hey, that looks like a nice rigid chassis. I dont suspect you will have to worry about your battery shifting loose...

That thing is gonna rip. How many Kv you got there?

It's stock electronics include a Reedy 74mmx40mm 2000kv 1515-SL sensorless four-pole motor and a Reedy SC1000-BL Sensorless Brushless 1:8 ESC.

The battery tray captures the pack from five foam-lined sides and 3 Velcro straps- but it isn't large enough for the HUGE 6000mAh 4S pack I bought for it.

Waited too long to send that back, too...

I find that interesting. I have never owned or tried anything 1/8. It's a step bigger. Big battery, big torque. Sounds great!

I have one and its pretty durable. only thing ive keep on breaking is the front hinge pin holder keeps popping out and the insert is split.
interesting to hear the udr tires fit?

Jealous of the color choice you got - I ordered that one, and the box was checked on the outside for that color - but I slid it out and it was green and (shudder) blue!

Those Louise RC T-Apollo wheels and tires are wicked, as well... I should have ordered a set earlier, they are hard to find now...

I have the forerunner to the nomad. A sc8E is what i have, and it looks awfully similar with the body off. I know their cages are different, but i converted mine sort of to a db8. Bought the tires and wheels and left the short course body off. And i agree on 4s its a handful, cant imagine 6s. MMX, 2200KV combo

I'm in the process of getting the base model documented and reviewed, as well as a parts crosswalk for those looking to stock up on spare parts. There is a lot to the story of this awesome buggy, and I'm working on pulling that all together.

I like this machine so much I will probably get a second just to modify and explore, but the factory version is surprisingly good. I did test a set of the DuraTrax Badger tires and loved them. I have 4 more different tire sets to test out as well.
