Looks good. Seat cushions were 4" thick, seat backs were 2" thick, not all M548 seats were covered in canvas. My unit had 7 M548's, 1 for each self propelled M109 Howitzer, and the 1 assigned to my special weapons crew. 3 had the OD Green canvas covered seats, 3 had OD Green heavy nylon covered seats, and my crew vehicle had Black heavy vinyl covered seats.

Where were you when I need this info? I didn't found many pics of the cushions, alone in good condition. I went for 6mm thick, roughly 2,5" in real size

Thanks!

I've been with you since the beginning, which is why I didn't say anything about the first set of seats you made. They were a little puffy, but I figured you'd be putting a driver & asst driver, and maybe a gunner standing in the middle, and they would flatten it out

Well.to be honest, I asked the lady who sew them to make the edges square but she did that instead. I didn't mind at the time

Just like the 1:1, looks good.

We would take a bicycle inner tube to put around the door pulls, silenced the chain from banging on the door when it was shut, and made it less likely to pinch your skin on the chain

Holy cow! This is an amazing build!

I'm flashing back to 1985 and the 3/37th Field Artillery Battalion, Herzo Base, Germany. The 548s kept my M110 happy with 8" artillery rounds. Seriously brings back memories..

Good idea! I think i've saw a covered chain on one of the references but I would never imagine it could be a bike tube...clever stuff

Have just read the whole thread and I think I give up building more myself now, these are the wildest details you get and can not stop spotting new things at all.

Well...So I've failed to inspire others . This one was a peculiar project. My first tracked RC . A lot was learned and mistakes were made but turned out fine in the end
