Default Spyker Workshop Snow Blower on TRX-4 Traxx

Even using the Spyker TRX-4 mount kit, the blower sits too high and is at the wrong approach angle to properly scoop snow. So I made a 1" drop extension out of 3/32 aluminum plate.

I also went to the hardware store and bought some stronger springs for the front shocks so the truck doesn't dive horribly when the blower unit is lifted.

Sweet setup. Is there another build thread somewhere?

Thanks. No build thread for this one. I guess I'm getting lazy

It started out as my Bronco

Then I put the Traxx on it

But that was weird so I put the Urban Assault body on it

Then that got old, so now it has the TRX Sport body with the Bronco inner fenders for winter duties. The Spyker Workshop 3D Printed blower kit has lots of build videos on Youtube. My setup is pretty basic other than the 1" drop bracket I made.

The augers are run by an Axial can motor (I hope it has enough torque). The exit chute rotates 360 degrees using another high torque 360 robot servo.

The 3D printed frame mount comes with two spaces for servos. The rear space has a super heavy duty torque servo to lift the blower off the ground. I forgot what the other servo space is for but I don't use it. Here you can see the simple lowering bracket I made.

The entire blower unit is controlled by a separate RC system. The auger motor is controlled buy a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC and since both servos are high torque, and the lift servo bears heavy loads, I put a 3A BEC in the system. I crammed all blower electronics in front of the front shock tower.

Are you able to find some snow and show us how it works? This is far more ambitious than the usual plow setup.

I was up at 12,000 feet last Saturday. No snow worth mentioning up there. Everywhere else is on fire right now.... Going to have to wait.

That's pretty cool! Cleans better than a Blizzard w/plow

I'm genuinely impressed! That works pretty good. Bravo on pulling off something very different.

Now I will try to steal you idea.

Thanks!

Here is a better video. The ambient temp was about 30 degrees so the snow was a little bit wet. Its pretty amazing how much snow this thing moves.

That is WAY cool man!

Heck, with one of those, I might be able to get my kids to clear the driveway…

Hah! No way, it's too much fun to let my kids do it. Besides, I can do it from inside a warm house while looking out the window!
