Default Tamiya Holiday Buggy bearings

Hey guys, I just ordered a Holiday Buggy and plan on putting a brushless motor in it (most likely my Orion dDrive 2700kv). I’ve got the right pinion, steel spur and 540 motor plate but will I need to replace the bearings? I’ve seen bearing kits for these and although none are available where I am (Australia), I have seen a full kit for the frog here

Is it necessary to do this and if so, will this kit fit?

Thanks.

Check ebay, there's kits galore. Most likely yo will bave a few 5x11, and 5x7 in the trans for idler gears. You can also buy in bulk, and its cheaper than a kit

Thanks mate. I’ve just ordered a full set for about $30

The motor can be a bit crazy even on 2S, so I want to make sure I don’t immediately destroy the buggy!

The Holiday Buggy, nice. I think it’s a great idea to attempt eeking out as much performance as you can out of it, it’s such a fun looking rig. I May have to try this, I have always wanted one

Yeah, it looks like it’s going to be fun. It’s also pretty cheap (especially if you have spare receiver, radio, and servo but one thing I didn’t factor in was the paint. The interior and part of the roof require paint, which will set me back an extra $50 all up.

I’m sure the motor I intend to install will immediately point out which parts require upgrades and possibly even help me out by removing them mid-run like it did with the previous car I installed it in!

IIRC they are all 11x5 bearings, i just finished building one for my daughter.

I've had one for a few years running a traxxas 12T 550 can and an 1060 ESC and its one tough buggy, mostly burnouts in the driveway TBH and its seen like 4 pairs of rear tires to date with no breakage.
