Default Szczerbabuilt Sand/Mud Dragster (#65)

Acquired a traxxas funny car slider.
Detailed out a 1/8 Parma hemi motor
Hard rubber toy tractor front tires on some cut up gmade wheels.
Printed rear wheels.
Debating on wheel and tire setup still. A new rear set of tires are in route.
Threw on some wheels tires to see if I wanted like this or longer.

Looks cool but think I can do better.

Motor out back. 21” wheelbase

Mostly done with rear metal work.

Ah...

Holy smokes.

Szczerba strikes again!

A niche build I wouldn't have even thought of!

Hot-damn, that is cool...

Awesome! I am considering building a sand dragster, they run them in Huntington Beach, about 1-1/2 hrs from me. Being a buggy guy, that was what is running through my head, J and J style for those familiar. Never thought about a top fueler. Well done. What is your wheelbase and width? Will a 4s battery fit in there? Have you run it yet? Drooling......

Probably a dumb/noob question but I've never seen anything like this - where does the battery go?

I have had the mud drag idea in my head but it took a while for me to decide to go with the Traxxas setup.

Not yet. Waiting on some 1,000,000 wt diff oil and still need to finish weld the subframe. Figuring out what motor and lipo combo I want to use. I have some stuff around but I don't think the motor I have will be correct for it.

Thanks, I kinda want to do another but keep the stock wheelbase and put the motor up front.

Thanks, the scale garage is getting to be like 8-9 years old. Just made it from balsa wood, craft store door/window parts. I keep adding junk to it like the 1:1 garage.

A J&J build would be cool. Wheelbase is at 21" . Current rear width is 9" and front is 7.5". I know folks have ran up to 6s in these chassis, not sure of the battery setups. though. 3800mah 3s fits, just didn’t want to untape battery plug.

First pic without the new rear half would look super cool with some big ass Clod pulling tires. Maybe build #65...

Sweet...the Hemi looks perfect in there. Didn't realize the chassis was so detailed under the body.

The real question is... Will it be able to pull wheelies when it launches?

What kind of power you putting in it?

I always just assumed that the Traxxas dragsters came with locked diffs. Why the thick oil over a spool?

Yah, thinking a build like that in the future. RC4WD makes some cool ones.

Yah, it's decent. I could have made the whole chassis out of tube but it was easier to graft one to back.

It will have a wheelie bar. I am unsure on a motor and voltage setup right now. Most run an open diff with 1million fluid, I have seen some l locked but there are not spools available. Plus the diff gears are all but gone for purchase. Ie, If I modify the gears, no going back. If you see some diff gears that arent $60, let me know. haha.

Kinda funny, I was watching a Malaysian YouTube video showing the Borneo 4x4 championship, and at the end of the clip they were showing some other vehicles made by one of the sponsors - and this came up...

Here in Michigan at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, they have a Sand Drag Track setup and run Nationals in the middle of summer.

Some Killer Sand Rigs for sure.

I’m originally from Indiana and I’ve never even heard of sand drags. They sound cool, I’m going to have to watch some.

Man that thing is badass, originally from SoCal they use to run drags at Soboba casino and you could hear the top fuel cars run all the way across town.
Kick myself for not swapping a guy for some funny cars now lol!
