Default c0bra’s yd2 sx2 build

Well not much of a build as it’s nearing completion (but are they ever really complete?), but figured it’s finally time to make a thread for this car.

Anyways as you may know I am working on a m chassis yd2, were this car was initially going to be the donor for. But once getting it done there was next to no room for the esc, rx and gyro which meant going with the sx2 version was basically pointless. So then I figured why not build the car!

So it started life as a stock yd2 sx2 in black. As I was building the car with no electronics I started to want to build it right the first time and get good electronics for it, I mean it’s already mostly carbon and aluminum to begin with.

So the first electronics I picked up were an airtronics rx (sitting around), then for the servo I knew i wanted as fast as possible but still have some torque so I went with the protek 160ss servo with a yokomo servo horn. Here’s were things start to escalate fast! I was looking up on different gyros until I came across the yokomo v4, with its adjustable gain through the transmitter. Right then I knew this was the gyro I wanted! For motor and esc I was on super g looking to see what they had, first I decided on a tekin rsx pro (WAY overpowered but easily programmed with the Hotwire Bluetooth). Then for motor I went with the muchmore racing fleta zx v2 10.5t drift motor.

So far it’s also got the yokomo side aero and rear diffuser along with WUN upper and lower front arms. Also it has ds racing wheels with mst cs-r tires. The esc is also mounted on the diffuser.

For the body I initially I was going to run the Pandora bn sport rx7 body but I really screwed up the paint (oops) so that went out the window. The next choice was my favorite by far, the aplastic bmw m2! With this being a drift car, I also picked up a set of gorilla magnet body posts and an interior roll cage to try and use, also mytrickrc light kit!

Chassis pics to come soon once the wiring is finished and wheel offset finalized.

Yea the chassis is done but I keep forgetting to take pics. The body is painted but I need to paint the light lenses and 3d print a bash bar for the front.

Still will be a tandem drift build, check out the Travis build thread. There’s a lot coming in for it, unfortunately most is from rc mart

Finally pics! Man I’m slow

This build is a much more basic build compared to the Travis chassis. It’s actually mostly stock except for usukani front lower arms, WUN front upper arms and magnetic body posts. It also has the optional side aero and wide rear diffuser.

As far as electronics I wanted to over build it so I would only buy electronics once (hint hint). It’s got a protek 160ss with a yokomo aluminum horn, tekin rsx pro, and a muchmore racing fleta zx 10.5t drift motor with a yokomo v4 gyro and an airtronics rx (hint). As far as battery I’m running 2s lihv packs mounted across the chassis.

Body is an aplastic m2 painted with proline orange and backed in white. I of course lost the light buckets which I need to find and paint as I have a light kit for it. The body also has a roll cage mounted to it

Decided to keep this car alive and give it a refresh. I am going to be swapping the esc and motor in the future to put the tekin/muchmore in the v5 but that is waiting for usps to decide to work….. long story.

Anyways part of the refresh is a new body. This time an aplastic e30

You will never guess the color scheme

Was hoping to paint this a few days ago but work has been crazy the last few days, and needed a day to relax (yesterday). Anyways now it’s painted, well…… except the light buckets
