| An RC for my Carry-on/luggage.
I know what you are going to say, lazy, that's right! I've had this idea brewing when TLT axles were still cool, but too frail imho. Having a few extra Wheely King axles, I thought why not try this out. I just grabbed a piece of scrap 3/4 rectangular tube that was already ripped down the center, and sure enough it fit over the axles perfectly. Out comes the mental drawing board and I start a to sketch. After a few hours I came up with this. No suspension. 19"long 3/4 square tube, with axles marked at a 12" WB. Front and rear overhang are for front and rear servo placement. Axles will be boxed in, but still removable by removing the plates from underneath the rails. Battery(ies)will go on the outside of the rails. Unsure if I will use a custom 18650 powered supply or the standard 2-3s lipo. Transmission will either be in house designed and 3d printed (horizontal) layout. A 5:1 gru, will connect to t)he internals of a scx10 3 gear tranny and drive the front and rear. Goal is to keep it slim, as well to keep everything but the battery(ies) between the rails. The steering links will stick through some oval slots in the chassis (still needs to be done) Coincidentally I leave for a small vacation in 2 weeks, maybe. I won't have to carry anything but a controller if I finish this by then. Will update as my ADHS allows, onto the pics from toniht. Last edited by Gula; 08-30-2021 at 02:53 AM. |

Steering throw is about 30mm in each direction. The rails are as far apart as possible. The wheels and tires I used are very offset, so there is no rubbing.

Diff cases will get standard bevel gears with silicone ear plugs packed in. I wonder if this thing will handle like it's on rails? No suspension is needed for an airport and a few small curbs, cracks, etc won't upset it either. 4 wheel steering and the open diffs should make for a as good as my Volvo amazing turn radius.
