tamiya super champ/sand scorcher f-150 ranger

anyone remember the sand scorcher or the super champ it also came with asf-150 ranger my son just got the f-150 .these buggies would make an excellent scale tube frame rail .the front end is a scale dowm vw front end, and the rear is much the same the hole suspension mounts off the tranny so it looks like the vw . very kool

Thorsteenster 11-24-2007 09:51 PM

Yeah, they are cool. I had a Super Champ when I was a kid, but they are not 1.9 scale rigs.

colonelangus 11-24-2007 11:13 PM

well the ranger f-150 body says 1/10 th scale on the under side of it.fits nicely on my high lift and thats 1/10 th scale. the idea was to use it to build a scaler to put on a trailer my high lift
the ranger is the same chassis as the sand scorcher and the super champ

Why are they not scale?

I have a F150 myself and the body is the same as a blackfoot, which I know alot of guys use for scale trucks. Now I agree that the chassis layout and dimensions may be a bit off for perfect scale but maybe getting a bit hung up on scale a little hard sometimes I would say if anything the sand scorcher is more scale then a 4wd 2.2 that had a VW shell on it. Not to pick an arguement

How is it a 1.9 rig? It is very scale, but it should be in the general section.

I've got 2 sand scorchers , and was thinking of rebuilding one for trail runs .
the other is just as it was when I first built it , just needs a new esc , and battery .
