hanging rock group crawling

Planning trip to hanging rock state park Saturday march 28th about noon. This will my first trip with my crawler and would like as many people as possible to come. Maybe if enough people give notice maybe have hot dogs before hitting the trail

Awesome man. Thanks I don't know anyone else who is into rc. I got a buddy that wants a crawler as soon as he can afford one. Trying to get him to come to at least check it out

Well my stock motor just crapped out on me. I have a spare 27t from my drift car. What would be a good turn to replace it with? Also how do you feel about 32 pitch gears?

Re: hanging rock group crawling

Ain't that the way it goes, I'm running a Integy 35 turn motor that works well for me, plenty of low end with just enough rpm to keep things moving along. As far as the 32 pitch gears that's totally preference, I don't see much advantage oven the 48.

Right now I'm running a redcat Everest 10. Some people say cheapo but for $135 to try out crawling I say perfect. I have been trying to see how much abuse it will take. That's the purpose of this trip. Other than the stock motor, spur and pinion it has been bulletproof. As the little stickers on all the electronics say its truly waterproof. Plus side it also shares plenty of parts with axial. Hoping to eventually get a scx10

Re: hanging rock group crawling

Ain't nothing wrong with that, I say run what you like and can afford. One of the biggest misconceptions of the R/C hobby is you gotta spend a lot of money to have fun. As far as the Axial, you can't go wrong with those. I've had both a AX-10 and SCX-10 and LOVED them both. I've since changed gears ( pardon the pun ) to a Vaterra Twin Hammer and having good results out of it.

I own 3 redcat racing vehicles and they're all a blast. What would be the easiest you would want to get up there. My son has a birthday at 2pm in Kernersville he wants to go to

Sounds like the earlier the better then, you name the time. I'm good for all day, I may stay and play after you have to leave - heck I may grab a bite to eat and roll on over to Pilot Mtn

Got my new motor today. I'll install it tomorrow and test it out in my yard. I figured maybe somewhere between 9:00 and 10:00 we can meet up there. That would give me about 3-4hrs there. I'm gonna try a test run with all my batteries to see how much run time I will have.

Re: hanging rock group crawling

Sounds like a plan to me"thumbsup"

As far as run time, I know for me with a 35turn motor and a 2200mah battery I get around 1 to 1 1/2 hours per pack.

The new motor is awesome. But stripped my front diff. Parts will be in tomorrow. 3 wheel drive sucks

Used to love a road trip to crawl, But I'm near Raleigh, and that sounds a little far.

Thanks to "Lowlife" for setting up what turned out to be a pretty good day of wheeling "thumbsup".
We had four rigs on the trail to the top of Hanging Rock. This is a good piece of trail, after a short walk on a user friendly wide walking path it quickly drops down to a single track with lots of rock and obstacles that continues all the way to the top.
Looking forward to getting out again soon "thumbsup"

Re: hanging rock group crawling

I had a great time. Thanks for coming out. I definitely found out what upgrades I need but other than killing so many packs I very happy with how my rig performed. I'm gonna get some new wheels and tires and I half to replace an axle. Still not sure why my packs were dying so fast
