Default How about an '09 TTC ?

Since it's Saturday night and I'm self medicating with Monster and Miller Lite, I was flipping through some off-road mags looking for some build ideas. Why not a scale type Top Truck Challenge event next year? Lets put some of these trail rigs to to test.

The actual list of events

-Tow Test
-Frame Twister
-Mud Pit
-Obstacle Course
-Hill Climb
-Mini Rubicon
-Tank Trap

Obviously some of trail rigs are more capable of larger scale terrain than others so lets hear some thoughts.

If we do it this next year, I've got enough time I should be able to finish a waterproof trail rig. If I can pull that off, I'll pound it through anything. I'm thinking my comp rig is gonna be my scaler. The axles are built enough.

I'd think the rules would resemble if not mirror the rules of the 1:1 event right Mr. Iswith(sorry had to do it once).

Hadn't even gotten that far. I was thinking about just picking 3 or 4 of the events and doing a basher/trail/scale event, no dedicated comp rigs. Comp rigs got thier own events. Less restrictive than the Scale rules as far as rigs go. Any 1:1 vehicle you'd see on a trail, doesn't have to street legal kinda thing. I'd want the scale tube buggy types to have an event tailored to them rather than being stuck in the middle between Hardbody 1.9 scalers and full on comp rigs.

Ideally there'd be a 1.9 and 2.2 class but that would depend on who and how many showed up. If not classes than 2 courses, a 1.9 and 2.2. After our last little scale event, my rig didn't even notice what the 1.9's struggled with. I'd like to keep it an even affair but be open any type of non comp rig be it TLT or TXT axled stuff.

Nothing real fancy. Heres the start, there's the finish ... now mash the stupid pedal. Fastest time wins for the most part. Simple, it's gotta be simple.

I should expand on the what I said concerning rigs. I'm just throwing ideas out, kinda seeing if we'd have enough interest even to try and set something up and if anyone else has any ideas. Not everybody has multiple crawlers so I'd kinda like to see some input. With the new Wreckluse chassis out and other not so street legal type of scale rigs popping up, I would like to see a scale event tailored to them.

Well I'll be there, I think this spot me and mark wheel would work awesome for a ttc course it has hill climbs, mud pits, huge cracks for the tank trap, and it's easy to get to.
You guys need to come up here and check it out some time.

Default Monster Trucks, Mud Boggers, Tractor Pullers, Rock Crawlers, and Scale Trucks.

I say we do all the events listed, plus anybody that has clods, txt's, juggernauts, WK's and lets not forget mud racers and tractor pullers, bring them and well just have a big RC4wd off road jamboree type of event.
Run the TTC one day and all the others the next day. Let the 1.9 guys run the same course as the 2.2's just score them in there own class.

Thumbs up Ideas

K me and marc talked about this on the way home
10th scale axles (axial ax-10, hpi wheely king, tamiya cr-01, tamiya tlt, pti goliath, and if I didn't get all them sorry.)
try to keep it some what scale looking
other than that anything goes.
these are just for those of us thinking of building a truck just for this event.

Please keep in mind that this is just an idea.

Hey guys heres a little video I found of some RC tuff truck challange running. The stuff they had set up seems simple enough to do just about anywhere. The uphill pull with some weight on a rug is ingenious. Don't need a fancy pulling sled, just gravity.

Ya when the 1.9 truck went through the tank trap it looked really scale how it through him around alot then he got hung up right at the end and rocked it back and forth then got through. The other trucks with the big tires went through without to much troubles, but still looked really cool.

I liked how they kept it simple. A couple of holes, some water, and some pieces of wood added in. Throw in a few gates to make you stay on track and it's a TTC. Easy Peasy!
