Default Road Trip

Hey guys I think we need to take a road trip to Souix Falls, SD this summer. I think we should coordinate a date with the SD guys and have a comp or GTG one weekend down their. Maybee even have our finals event their. Do the weekend thing like we planned at the lake.

I think I am going to convince Dave to stop by this place called Falls Park and do a little scaler action on our way to Omaha.

Here is a picture of the place.

That picture really doesn't do the park justice, then again it was take pretty high up in the air. I think most of the SD guys post on the scale 4x4 forum. Hopefully they see the thread in the SD section. Count me in!

I would crawl that park all day. Is it open to the public all the time?

Nice find Tony

Sioux Falls is actually closer than I thought it would be. It would take about the same time to get there from Grand Forks as it does to get to Bismarck. Hopefully I will be buying a new vehicle soon so I can go where-ever this summer. I would like to go to this spot in Sioux Falls a few times.

SD guys - is there any good camping close to the park?

I think there is a KOA and another small RV/camp ground not that far away. 2-3 miles tops. The park is pretty much in the middle of town so I think that would be the best bet. There is a probably another 100 yards of rock formations under some trees to the right side of that picture out of view.

Tony,

you weren't kidding that place is great looking. Make sure you grab the wheel and make Dave check it out on the way to Omaha on Friday. Were gonna take the short route down through Worthington.

I am definately interested in that place. Maybe we can make a couple day event down there. Hopefully I can talk Jim into it as well. Hopefully I am still here. I may be moving to Washington this summer though.

If you're coming down i-29 it should be easy to get to as well.

Edit: Just for some added info, M2 tires do not work very well here. The rock is rose quartz and is very very smooth in a lot of places.

Looks like a great time to me! Maybe we could talk some of the SD guys to come up here to run with us?

Well guys, as prommised Dave and I stopped in Souix Falls and went to Falls Park. Boy were we glad we did. We spent about 2.5 hours there messing around with my Toyota and Daves comp truck. His scaler had trouble and couldn't drive it. But it waws good to run both types.

It sounds like there are about 40 locals that run there. All scale guys, none of them have done any comp style running there. We actually met a couple of the locals and talked for a while and it sounds like they are trying to organize a scale event. We need to keep our eyes out for that.

Any way, here are some pictures I took.

Of course I had to take some of the Toyota. I would have taken some of Dave but his scaler was down and nobody wants to see his comp rig.

First week in June doesn't work for me. I'll be fishing 50 miles south of the Canadian boarder that week.

I had an issue with my receiver pack, the issue being it was DEAD...

We talked with a guy on the rocks and he said they usually have a deal in August so we might have to leave the month open....
