| Unofficial Tulsa / Broken Arrow play spots
So being new to the hobby, I'm always looking for a place to try out the truck. Does anyone local have any unofficial trail areas they use? I went to a place today I've been eyeing and it turned out to be awesome. There is a hill behind Charlestons / Los Cabos off of HWY 51. It's enough room for 1:1's to play, good for scale trucks, bashing and crawling. Dirt Hills, Rocks, and big open areas. Anyone have other spots? Oh yeah, and is it cool to talk about unofficial spots on the forum? |

I went up to the Broken Arrow Los Cabos spot again over the weekend, since I missed the Disney event, and had a good bit of fun. I'm still learning and working out what the truck is capable of / my abilities with it, and how to plan out good trails to follow. I was inspired by an article in RC Driver to take a bucket and bag for trash with me while I was up there, to clean up some junk left by 1:1 crawlers/bashers. It gave me the idea to do something I call "Trash Bashing." Since there is no definite trails to follow and I don't have gates, I try to take the most direct route from 1 piece of trash to the next, picking them up as I go. It's an easy way to make totally random trails on otherwise open land. I'll be using this spot at least once a week for practice and testing. It's very diverse, and I've only scratched the surface of it I'm sure. If anyone local wants to go up there, let me know, I'm always up for company! jay |

I was cruising around the Bixby / South Tulsa area and came across a cool spot today, and just so happened to have my truck in the trunk! Near 111th and Sheidan, on 111th headed towards Yale, on the right is an opening with a few large (15 ft maybe) carved out piles. It's soft dirt, not quite sand though. My stocker did ok, but a crawler would do much better, and it would be a different challenge then hard rocks. |
