Default "blacked-out" look

I have an F-650 build going on in the 2.2 scale section. I've got an interest in painting the body completely black, adding tint to windows and somewhat matching the crawler it will be used to tow. Question is, how do I give seperation between body panels and the grill if the grill will also be painted black. Here's a 1:1 I'm going to try and copy...

how bout mixing a little charcoal gray in w/ the black or maybe using metalic black

it'll be really subtle but will definatly show attention to detail

or you could also scuff certain areas w/ a lil bit of scotch brite to flatten out the gloss of certain areas

you could also run flat or semi gloss black on the grill and such to contrast it sligthly from the body.

[also, thanks for not calling it 'murdered out'. seems kids these days use that term instead of 'blacked out' which is what I've always called it. i dont understand their term...]

I would paint it black just like the body your going for a mono chromatic look. You will have a separation line between body and grill that should be enough IMO.

Cool loooking rig.

You could paint the whole thing black and then put a clear varnish layer over the body panels. That would make the grill look a bit duller

actually "murdered out" refers to a flat black finish over the whole rig as opposed to "blacked out" which is high gloss black finish. but yeah you are right alot of people interchange the terms improperly

for people of my generation (older guy talking) 'blacked out' meant blacked out-flat, glossy or some combination, didnt matter.
'murdered out' is a stupid term.

so you are saying the lexan body should have a seperation line? Enough to distinguish between hood/fender and grille?

Use 2 or 3 different brands of black paint. Every brand is just a hare different.

Or gloss black on the body and metalic on the grill and bumpers?
