so i have painted 2 bodies now that have chipped and the paint has cracked like hell. idk what im doing wrong. i have used lexan body paint. i did small coats. i cleaned the body before i painted them with water and soap and dried them out with a paper towel. i have done everything i can think of right. i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to why its doing that. thanks

From what you have written it sounds like the paint my be too thick. I find doing fine layers maybe about 3 coats max works for me!

ya i was wondering if maybe that was the case. i did one body with a airbrush and one with a rattle can. but i think your right it probably was kinda thick.

Scrub the inside of the body with a scotchbrite pad while washing it with dish soap.

And don't use too much paint.

If your using fluorescent paint and it is applied to thick or its not backed buy a non fluorescent color usually white it can chip. :-(

ok i will try all of those ideas. i think maybe i did use a little bit to much paint. i used fluorescent orange and blue and backed them with white. but i will try another one with not as much paint and less coats and see what happens

This is a good tip and its what I also do, but do not wash the windows.
I use the rough part of a new dish washing sponge and light strokes.
You just want to rough up the surface a bit to get good adheartion.

What if after 3 coats the paint is still transparent? Is that what the white backing is for? Also how long should you wait in between coats. I have noticed with watching on youtube alot of people airbrush a body without even stopping to let layers dry.

yeah... the Flourecent paints are transparent and need the white or silver backing to make it opaque. I typically do a 2 to 3 good even coats of the flourecent and then back with White... this will make the color POP out at cha too!!!

ya me and jmterminator backed it with white and everything. it looked really good. i guess we will just have to try another one haha.
