| What's the best way to bond styrene to lexan
After checking out some of the custom bodies on this site I'm very curious to know how everyone one bonding styrene to lexan? I just built my SCX10 last week and I'm currently running it without a body as the stock one is just not my style. I think that a custom body is going to make it's way onto the truck and I'm searching for some tips before trying something that I know very little about. Thanks.

Thats what I used, Shoe Goo. Be careful though and use it sparingly. The styrene and lexan both react to it if you goop too much on. See on the lower edge of the body just in front of the rear wheel arch the thin styrene sheet I added for depth reacted a bit. Also, I lined the entire lower half of the body with styrene on the inside for strength and to stiffen it. I laid a thin amount of goop, I thought, but the lowest edge of the body started to fan outward a bit. I have to make sliders to hold the bottom edge back in place. Its best to Shoe Goo a small peice of styrene into the body, then use that to bond more of the styrene work to instead of trying to bond everything to the styrene. The shoe goo is nice too in that its a bit flexible like the body. Also, doing this requires you paint the exterior of the body instead of the interior. |

Tenax will do it, too. But Shoe Goo is much more durable.
