Getting ready to start a build using the PARMA 34 Ford body, and was wondering what the best method is for getting the Patina look. Or,if you're a painter and can get this done for me please let me know. Thanks. ( yes I searched the topic )

Best way IMO is painting the body on the outside to make it authentic looking. You can start with a few light coats of whatever colours you choose (example blue, red ect...) then spray flat black over the whole body. once it's all dry you can scuff through the multiple layers, this is the simplest way if you have no use of an airbrush. I suppose you could get the same affect inside by spraying one colour, sanding through most of it then your next colour, sand through and so on. Once your finished (or before you start if your painting internally) I would ad some simple detailing like running rust stains, maybe some pinstriping ect...

Thanks for the idea I never thought of spraying over with black then scuffing it out.

I've never used this method in RC myself but here is an example if done right how it can turn out, this was a complete motorcycle I "patina'd" and striped. This was almost finished in these pics. |
