Heat Gun on Lexan/Delrin Damage?

Hey guys. I am running a bwd mrc chassis with a dub toper and this thing is narrow down low with the motor sticking out the side big time on the, well, motor side. I have been running a setup of lexan that I just don't like. I want to run a heat gun over some lexan to get the look I am going for but I have some concerns. The chassis is made of delrin so I am worried about melting delrin when all I want to do is melt the lexan.

Finally what are the ways to paint lexan that has been hit with a heat gun. Paint first then cook or cook then paint? Thanks all.

shape it first then paint it. why don't you hold the lexan away from the chassis, heat it then apply? I'm not sure on the melting point differences, but I've heated up delrin to bend it and if you get it to hot it will start to bubble and dis form. Also i don't know if the tensile strength changes after being heated.

"cook" the lexan first then paint and the lexan will become maluable much before the delrin, i would only do a little bit at a time then let the delrin cool just to be safe :thumbsup:

Thanks guys. I essentially want to form it to the motor area almost like i has been shrink wrapped. If I could also use the thinnest lexan available that would probably help.
