Default Painting Question

I just ordered my Proline Cherokee body and its my first body having to paint. I got some ideas of what I wanted to do but I am not sure if it is possible because someone I know said it wouldnt work. I figured you guys are the experts so its the best people to ask. I was wanting to paint on the inside like a primer gray. And then paint the outside in the actual paint color that I want. That way when it scratches it looks like its scratched to the primer. Would this work? Has anyone ever done this or anything? Any pictures?

This has been done numerous times and seems to work well.

Try doing a metalic orange undernieth, then when it gets scratched it looks like rusted metal.

How do you think the metallic orange on inside for rust and then primer then color on outside. that way if scratches aint too deep it looks like primer

When I did mine, I painted the inside a bunch of different browns, grays and oranges on the inside. Then when it scratched none of the colors were exactly the same.

Now that sounds like a good idea.
